I am the great-granddaughter of Alexina Dufour, her children being Reno Dufour and Rina Dufour (married to Robert L. Pelletier). Rina (now deceased) was my biological maternal grandmother. Jannetje PIER (1657) and her husband, Jan Dufour, had a daughter born 1681. Grietje DUFOUR.
Grietje was the grandaughter of Jan Teunis Pier (1631).
Grietje married Teunis Arent Pier (1670). Teunis (1670) was nephew of Jan Teunis (1631).
The grandson of Grietje , Johannes Ostrander, married the grandaughter of Grietje, Maria Westfall .

Pedigree of many Ostranders have multiple paths of ancestry back to Dufour and Pier families of 16th century.

My Father, Lonnie Joseph Whitfield, was a cousin ofMarie Eliska Whitfield and visited with her from time to time; last being near San Antonio, I believe.

Is there oral family history as to why Eliska's parents went to St. Tammany Parish to be married? I'm assuming it was an elopement. However, surely there must have been a relative on one side or the other that assisted them to go so far away from Plaucheville, La. I am not a family member, but I have some information that you might like having, Julie. I realize you're looking for Amelia Dufour but I have some info on Joseph Biamonte - and sometimes having information about one can lead to info about the other. Joseph Biamonte owned the property that is now the famous Cornstalk Fence Hotel in the French Quarter, although it was a different building than the one which stands there now. He most certainly not the man who installed the Cornstalk Fence, which was designed in 1860. Here is a link to the chain of title to the property:

I Am looking for information about Amelia Dufour who immigrated to New Orleans with her husband Giuseppe(Joseph) Biamonte. They came in 1832 with their 2 daughters Marie Antoinette and Aimee(Jeanne C). Evidently Amelia(Aumee) died soon after arrival. The family history indicates that she was from the house Of Bernadotte therefore related to the King of Sweden. Giuseppe was a schoolmate of Napolean III. He fought with the group of Carboneri in Italy and was exiled to France..I think the Bordeaux region where he married Amelia. They came to New Orleans in 1832.I think she died after a year in New Orleans, but I cant find anything about her. Giuseppe died in 1858.Julie Dameron

Louise Marie BOURON (1886?-1958). Louise was the daughter of Ambroise BOURON and Julia/Julie Marceline HOFFMANN (1851-1926). Julie/Julie was the daughter of Henri HOFFMANN (1817-1901) and Marie Louise AUCOIN (1831-1894). Louis Bernard FACQUET (1876-1926) was the son of Octave Louis Jules FACQUET (1837-1900) and Dominica/Dominiquette DUFOUR (1850-1912). Your grandfather Philip did indeed have a brother named Louis B. FACQUET, Jr. (1913-1971) who married Anna Mae ARTHURS (1923-2003) and they had one daughter, Susan FACQUET who married Jack Gerald HATTY Sr. (1955-1995) and Susan and Jack had 2 children: Lauren Michelle HATTY and Jack Gerald HATTY Jr.

You are related to my husband, David Bruce HOLTKAMP. He descends from Octave and Dominica's oldest daughter, Jeanne Giselle FACQUET whereas you descend from their oldest son, Louie Bernard FACQUET. Octave and Dominica had: Jeanne Giselle (1872-1947), Julia (1873-1902), Louis Bernard (1876-1926), George P (abt 1878-bef 1900), Zoe (1879-????), Henri (1881?-1896), Annette Louise (1885?-1918), and Cecile Pauline (1887?-1934).

Kathryn E. Dufour, 93, of Houtzdale
died Friday at the Clearfield Hospital.
She was the last of her generation.
Born Jan. 5, 1918, she was the daughter of the late August and Selma (Pearson) Schultz. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Mrs. Dufour had worked at Lloyd Manufacturing, Houtzdale.
She wed Modest “Butch” Dufour, whom survives her at home, Oct. 21, 1939. She’s survived by two sons, Larry Dufour and his wife, Beverly and Gerald Dufour and his wife, Madeline, all of Houtzdale.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Lynn Williams and her husband, Lowell of Ramey; Noell Gibson and her husband, John of Smithmill; Gerald Dufour and his wife, Andrea of Philadelphia; James Dufour of Columbus, OH; and David Dufour of Ramey; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dufour is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cheryl Dufour, four brothers, James, Edward, Gilbert and Raymond Schultz; and three sisters, Emily May, Wilomina Barbara and Betty Meissner.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Sunday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., 200 David St., Houtzdale
A Rosary service will be held by the Altar & Rosary Society at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with the Father Joseph Staszewski as celebrant. Burial will be at the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Houtzdale.

My paternal great grandfather, Adelard F. Joseph Morin (DIT DuFour), born on 12Nov1874 married Marie Ida Blais born on 4Jan1880 on July 26, 1897. He died on 28Oct1946 in Dayton, MN.

You can find reference to his daughter Catherine in the Metis records kept by the French until 1800 or so. It also mentions a sister of the same father being born/baptized. I believe she was one of four children born from Peter Henry Dufour b:13 May 1754. My estimation of four children comes from independent research that indicated 4 children of the same Indian mother "Sophie Couvillon" under the patriarchal name Dufor(t) which I believe is a misspelling or incorrect transcribing of a signature.

Hello all,
I am looking for a marriage date via certificate or newspaper for Pierre Dufour b 1754 to Pierre Dufour Dit Bonvivant and his wife Marie Charlotte Gloria. I believe Pierre Jr. married late in life but previous to his daughter Catherine's birth on Sept 15, 1805. His family would have been present at Fort Detroit when it was surrendered to the English. I believe his wife was a native woman. The name Pierre is quite common which has limited my search capabilities.

Octave was my great,great grandfather. I THINK THEY HAD 8 CHILDREN? My grandfather was philip Facquet I. HIS parents were Louis Facquet and Louise Bouron. He had one brother named Louis Facquet. My DUFOUR book only says Joseph John Dufour was the only son of Ernest Dufour and Virginia Aymond. He was born in March of 1874 ,approximate date.He married in August 20,1895 to Nellie Matthews,born June 2,1880 in Pointe Coupee, La.They made their home in Cottonport area.He being a farmer. During a typhoid epidemic in 1921,they lost three children, It does list there names and there is a picture of Nellie and Joseph.

I just sent the paper work out to Oregon to a cousin. The father of Eli Dufour was in Canada. It was the Trios Riveria area of Quebec. The fathers name was Franious Dufour. Can try getting the direct line from him.

My mother, Rose Dufour Johnson, is John Henry Dufour's daughter. John Henry Dufour is my grandfather, Shirley Plumbo is my aunt and John Dufour is my uncle, I believe he died before I was born. My mom has told me many stories about your dad, John over the years, she loved him very much and her, Shirley and John were very close siblings.

You do realize that MOST of the Swiss DuFours were French that left during the Huguenot migrations? Settled in mostly PROTESTANT countries, Switzerland, England, Netherlands, Germany, even Russia and North America in New England/Canada but even as far south as Florida? So, very close kinship with Canadian/Arcadian and so called Creole DuFours would be suspected.

I have lost contact with Armand Dufour. He was in the Canadian Army(RCASC). He helped liberate Holland in 1944. During 1944-45 he stayed with us (Brouwer family) in s'Hertogenbosch for three months.
