My great grandfather was David Duchemin, the brother of Nora. I also show that Felix might have been spelled as Phelep or Phelps. I don't have a lot of info but can share with you what I have.

My great-great-grandfather was one Alfred Duchemin Carpenter, born 1860 in Islington, London/Middlesex. I can find him on later censuses, when he is married + has his own family, but I can not find any evidence of a registration of his birth (and hence who his parents were).

I have come across an Alfred Carpenter in Islington in/around that year, but nothing with the name Duchemin, which not only shows up in the later records, but also has real significance in our family history (it is believed the family originated from France around the time of the revolution) - so it is unlikely just to have appeared/disappeared.

Can anyone help me find Alfred Duchemin Carpenter + his parents please (or tell me what I'm doing wrong!)?

Duchemin family prior to 1660

Looking for Duchemin family ancestry prior to 1660. My first known relative was Samuel Duchemin, a French Huegenot,who had a land grant in King George/Westmoreland Counties in Virginia. We have family histories from that time to today, but lack prior to 1660.

In 1703, Samuel changed the last name to DISHMAN.

I am also descended from Samuel DuChemin. He came to America, presumably with his father Isaac, sometime after his birth in 1647. Family legend holds that he was a member of the minor nobility in France, but left because he was a Hugenot. (Sounds somewhat elaborated to me...) Anyway, he married Cornelia Diggs and had about seven children, all who carried the name Dishman. I would venture to say that since Cornelia was English and their children were raised in America, the DuChemin name was anglicized to Di-sh-man, or Dishman. I was not aware that Samuel legally changed his name to Dishman, nor that the name Dishmanas had been derived from this. If you have any information about Samuel and his family, please let me know!

If you go to www.familysearch.org/ and do a search on the Duchemin name, you will find all kinds of Duchemin' s in Ohio and elsewhere. I have been trying to connect my Heritage to the Duchemin name. My supposedly ancester Samuel Duchemin changed his name to Dishman.

Felix might be a cousin..there were four brothers who came over from England. Check further into PEI records. Perhaps you will find him there or another place in Canada. Good luck.

Don't know, but I will take your word for it on Edmund and Albert as brothers of Henrietta. Obviously I was hoping for a "Felix" in there somewhere.

Thanks. If it's any help - Felix Duchemin married later Julia Aubin - I believe in Calumet, Michigan, Felix's father (don't know first name) married a "Tough" (again - don't know first name). I think the whole gang of them came from the Channel Islands to Canada.

As far as I know there were no brothers. She was the daughter of Watson Duchemin and Sally Fewins Clark. They lived in the Sunnyside area of PEI.

There may be a connection to PEI. Our Frank Duchemin who was born in Massachusetts in 1859 and was the son of one Albert Duchemin who may have been from PEI. In any event, Frank's daugher Jesse Passo Duchemin married one Henry Moore in Massachusetts. Henry Moore was born in Nova Scotia, but his father William Moore was born in PEI. Maybe they all kept in touch with each other. They were all in the North Shore area of Boston--Somerville, Lynn, Everett, etc. at the end of the 1800s and early 1900s. Henry and William Moore all emigrated to the Lynn, MA area in 1901. In the 1920s they were all living in the Somerville or Lynn area. My problem is that I cannot find where Albert Duchemin came from. But now, you are leading me to PEI. Do you have much information on the family of Henrietta Duchemin in PEI/ Massachusetts.

The Franck Duchemin of our family was born in Boston around 1860 and died in Massachusetts between 1891 and 1900. I do not believe he was in Oregon unless he went to Oregon instead of dying. Do you know the approximate year he was in Oregon and have you checked the census in Portland for the 10 years periods on both sides of the year that you know he was in Portland?

Henrietta Duchemin Webber was my great grandmother.
My father had a cousin ,Frank Duchemin,in Portland ,OR who was a jewler.Also. there was an Eddie Webber who moved up to B.C.

There is a family of Duchemins in Washington State. My grandfather, Jerry Duchemin, had five children, and twelve grandchildren. He had four sons to carry on the name, but only two grandsons to carry it on.

My name is Alain Duchemin. I Live in Paris France.
As far as i know the recent origin of my family is the village of St Croix or Sainte Croix in the Departement of Somme or Aisne at the north of Paris in the Province of Picardie.

In my countryhouse near Villers-Cotterets in this province, i have been told that during the period of Renaissance the Lord of my village was a man named Raoul Duchemin who went in Italy with Francois 1er. In Italy as many of his fellows his name was transformed and translated in "Dellastrada" (In English "Chemin" means "way" or "path" or "road" = "strada" in Italian) and back to France transformed again in D'Estrée who became a very famous noble family.

in the Channel Islands and settled in the
Gaspe area of Quebec,Canada around the town
of Malbaie. There were a number of John's
from there. The church of the Latter day Saints
library in your area or at Salt Lake city
Could show the church records from Malbaie.
One St. Croix from there settled in New York.

My great grandmother was jane e. a. Duchimin married to john De St Croix about 1865. I do not know where. But my grandmother wea born in Illinois in 1868.
Do you have information about the family in France. I believe they were Hugenot immigrants to England and then to America .

Roy was the brother of Gus Duchemin, whose son is James Duchemin, whose son is Jon Duchemin, whose son is Christopher Duchemin. I am trying to trace the family of Frank Duchemin and Carrie A. (Davis) Duchemin who had a daughter Jesse Passo Duchemin born in Provincetown on June 14, 1889. It is believed that Jesse married a Henry Moore of Scotts Bay, Nova Scotia and had a daughter Irene in Lynn, MA in 1910. I cannot find any trace of any of them and do not know where they came from (French Canada?) and what happened to them.

Further on the Frank Duchemin family. He was apparently from the Charlestown area of Boston. Does anyone know anyone of these Duchemins who could provide further details on the family. I am interested if they were originally from France, French Canada or the French West Indies, all of which were apparently origin points for Duchemin immigrants into the U.S. However, there would seem to be some evidence that the name could also be Flemish (Belgian), Dutch, German or from German border areas near the French border. Any information would be appreciated.

I know of a Joseph Duchemin. I believe he was the brother of my Grandmother Nora Duchemin. Not certain of his birth year but I am guessing around 1880-1910 - could be either side of that range though. Not certain if my Grandmother Nora was born in Houghton County, Michigan or Canada as some of the siblings were born in both places. Her father was Felix Duchemin and mother was Julia Aubain. Felix came to Houghton County, Michigan some time around 1900 from Canada (died about 1918-1930). If this seems like a "fit" for your Joseph Duchamin please reply and I can share more information with you. Wisconsin would be a good possability as you can almost throw a cat from Houghton County, Michigan to Wisconsin!

Need help locating some Duchemin relatives. Nora Duchemin (5 Feb 1886 - 20 Apr 1918) was my Grandmother. Father was Felix Duchemin (about 1860?) and mother was Julia Aubain. Nora Duchemins's brothers and sisters included Clara, David, Napoleon, Estell and Eva. I am certain that Felix Duchemin came from Canada (from census records). I am at a dead end after that??
