Stephen DuBose was the slave of the family of Samuel DuBose. He is listed in the last will and testament of Samuel DuBose,dated 1857.
Stephen DuBose and his wife Laurie Dubose are listed in 1870, as living in Hamilton,Darlington, SC, on the old Gandy Plantation. He is listed as being born in 1838, in Mississippi?

According to my research he was Married at least twice and has children from both unions.

In his first union with Racey Graham b:1860 d:? -Children- Dora Dubose b:? D:1964, Celah Dubose b:1878 d:?, Anna Dubose b:1885 d.?.

In the second union which in the record his is married to Laurie (Laura Dubose)b:1852 d:1906 -Children- Eliza Dubose, Miles Dubose b:1866, James Dubose(My 3rd GGpa)b:1871,Mattie Dubose b:1877, Catherine Dubose b:1878, Major Leo Dubose b:1879 d:1918,Mitt Dubose b:1880,Sallie(Sally)Dubose b:1880?,Albert Dubose b:1883, Hester(Easter)Dubose b:1885, Lonnie Dubose b:1886, Pollie Dubose b:1892 .
