To update this post, I'm still looking for information on the family of Gertrude Emma "Trudy" Drews (m. Walter Wesley "Wes" Sheridan). Her brothers were Raymond and William. I believe all three were born in Maywood, IL around the 1920s. Trudy was born in 1922 and died July 12, 2001 in Kenosha, WI. Raymond was at one point married to a woman named Daphne from Australia. Their father was named William Carl Drews and was born around 1890 in the Chicago area. His wife (Trudy's mother) was Elsie or Elsa Metzelfeld. The Metzelfeld family was from Milwaukee and sometimes went by Metz. William Carl claimed his family came from the Schwarzwald (Black Forest) in Germany, though I've found nothing to support this. My mom has also said that Trudy was of French descent. I suspect the Metzelfeld family originally came from a place called Metz in eastern France, but were living in Germany by the 1800s, possibly also in the Schwarzwald region.
