Although I am just starting my search for family, I do have a Lena Dreher who married a Waters. Her parents were Elizabeth Dreher Meaike Zaiger and John Zaiger. The parents were married in 1879. There were 13 kids 10 whom survived. Minnie Johnson, Anna Croisant, Yetta Rossow, Lena, Emma Kienast, Ida, Will, George, Chris, and Herman. The three deceased include Everett, Martha and a child who died in infancy. Does this fit along with what you have? If so, I am still trying to uncover and piece together information...and if you have some you could share email me at k2000e@vcn.com with it please! Thanks

Hello!
I just read your post about Elizabeth Dreher Meaike Zaiger and I think we are cousins! Elizabeth's brother Frederick was my great-grandfather. Their parents were Christian and Anna Dreher and were from Grundhagen, Prussia, Germany.
In 1879 Elizabeth married John Zaiger then had 13 children. One of them being Mrs. Lena Waters from Miller, South Dakota. You can post here or send me an email if this information sounds like it matches some of yours.

My wife's grandmother is Martha Elizabeth Meaike but she was only about 5 years old when her and her siblings lost their parents. Godfrey Fred Meaike and Anna Mae Denny were her parents. They moved in with Herman and Emma Kienast thus her last name changed from Meaike to Kienast. I have her birth certificate and her father's death certificate. I dont have a whole lot on the Meaike let alone trying to locate them anywhere especially Wisconsin where Martha was born. Martha was born June 9, 1919 died Mar-May of 2001. I would have to look it up. I think it was March of 2001 my youngest was only a few months old when she passed away. Her father Godfrey Fred Meaike died Oct 14, 1925 in Cameron Twp, Audubon County, Iowa. Fred was born May 24, 1874. Fred's father according to the dc is Martin Meaike and Elizabeth Dreher. Fred, Martin and Elizabeth were all born in Germany. Fred is buried in Cameron Center, Audubon Co. Iowa.

I would like to have more information on the Meaikes and the Dreher's. I have a booklet on the"A Genealogy of the descendants of Anna nee Hahn Hahn Dreher" compiled by Lloyd Barten from Ames Iowa. This booklet was given to me from my wife's grandmother Martha Elizabeth Meiake Foster. I would like to see if there are any changes since that booklet was written by Lloyd from anyone that may have it. I thought I had 2 of them. I may have another booklet somewhere.

Thanks

I would like to know what ship the Drehers came on when they came from Germany and what year did they arrive in Germany. I found my booklet titled" A Genealogy of the descendants of Anna nee Hahn Hahn Dreher" compiled and written by Lloyd Barton from Ames Iowa.

I am particularly looking for Elizabeth Dreher Meaike Zaiger being on the ship with her parents coming from Germany. Elizabeth Dreher is my wife's grandmother Martha Meaike/Kienast lineage. Godfrey Fred Meaike is her father and her mother's name is Anna Denny. Fred is the son of Elizabeth Dreher and the Grandson of Anna Hahn and Christian Dreher.

Would anyone have any information of the ship they rode on? What port did they leave from? When did they leave? My information says 1879. When did they arrive to America and where? Through Ellis Island? I have German Ancestors that came to America but landed New Orleans and rode up the Mississippi River and landed in St. Louis. Most of my ancestors settled in Effingham County, Illinois. But some of them landed in Ellis and went to Ohio before moving on to Effingham.

Thanks

Robert

Elizabeth DREHER, MEAIKE ZAIGER did not come to America with her parents. They were already here in this country. She came with her sisters and two of her children from the Meaike marriage in 28 August 1878 on the ship SS Vaderland from Amsterdam to Philadelphia. I have the complete ships manifest.

I am the great granddaughter of Christof Hahn, the Drehers half-brother.
I have the Lloyd Barton genealogy. I also have a family photo album that belonged to Chris and Charlotte Hahn. There are many unidentified photos that could be the Dreher family. I am interested in knowing whether any records have been found in Germany, including the location of Grundhagen.
