Our ggrandmother was a Katarzyna Dec born about 1862 in Katy Rakszawa, Rzeszow, Galicia, Austria (Poland). Her parents were Jozef Dec and Marianna Zyz. Katarzyna married a Walczyk in Trzebos. When he died she married a Dziak. In the early 1900's some of her relatives immigrated to Auburn, NY.

My gr-grandmother was Katherine DEC. She married a Frank/Francis GALIK. Don't know when but I do know they were from Austria/Poland. My paternal grandmother was Bernice GALIK. I do know that she had brothers. One of them died in Europe when he jumped from a train with his bags in hand and a large needle pierced his chest. Another brother was Jan (John) I know that he lived in MA in the eary 1900's and possibly moved to Canada; another brother was
Thomas (Tomarsz) he also lived in MA. in the early 1900's and from what I can find, he married a Maria RUTYNA while in Lowell, MA. Then there was a Kuba (Jacob) don't know anything about him; however, I do know a GALIK died due to a car accident sometime 1925-1940's this occured either in Lowell or Lakeside or a Lakebridge, MA. I can't find any record of this death.
On a ships manifest of my paternal grandfather and grandmother, they arrived at Ellis Island 1906, from a town named Vruslanki (which no one has ever heard of!!!). Have not been able to get a copy of the manifest to see for myself or see if they were going to stay with other family members already in the States.
I do have a copy of a marriage cert. of Thomas and Maria's marriage and thats how I found out the last names of my gr-grandmother....beside my father telling me years ago!

I have a Sophiae Betkowski born abt. 1840 in Rakszawa and she was married to Joannis Dec. Unfortunately waiting for more info to arrive from researcher in Rakszawa, I jotted this down during my visit to Rakszawa.

Do you have a Joannis Dec in your family?

Not that I am aware of! The only DEC I am aware of is my gr-grandmother Katherine. My grandparents wrote down that they came from Vruslanki (spelling?). I have been told that my gr-grandmother was Austrian.

I'm not related to the Decs (at least I don't think so) but a Joannes Dec was one of the witnesses at my great-great-grandmother's sister's wedding in 1908 (wedding of Jan Bak and Zofia Malec). Both Jan and Zofia were from Mazury, Poland.
