My great-great grandfather William Downs was born in KY around 1821. He eventually moved to Indiana where he married Elizabeth Lloyd from Jefferson County, IN. They settled in Rushville, IL where my great grandmother (Eliza Jane Downs) and grandfather(Eber Downs,he took his mother's surname) were born. My father was Robert Downs born in Kewanee, IL in 1920. I was also born in Kewanee in 1948.

Not sure if any of this helps you, but our division of the Downs family still has a reunion in Rushville every July.
