I am William Downs and am looking for my grandfather John Downs (born in the early 1870's) who came from somewhere near Leesburg,Va. My father, also William, told me that his fathers people were in the tannery business. I am told that he came to the family dinner table and found an envelope of money telling him to leave the family. He then went to live with an aunt in Pennsylvania.eventually meeting and marrying my grandmother ,who was an irish immigrant.
