I am seeking any information on Alexander Macdonald Dow or his descendants post 1930 in New York.
Alexander was born in Lockwood, Yorkshire UK in December 1872 to John and Agnes (nee Berry) Dow. In 1895 he married Kathleen Florence Reddy. In 1898 he emigrated to the USA, arriving in New York aboard the Anchoria. He appears in the US Census as follows:
1900 with wife Susan and daughter Mildred age 6 (so I suspect this may be a step-daughter). Living in Brooklyn.
1910 with wife Susan F, and daughters Mildred (age 16) and Mae L (age 3) in Brooklyn.
1920 with wife Susan F and daughter Mae Louise (age 12)
1930 with wife Susan, daughter Mae Clock and her son Harold Clock in West Islip.
Alexander's employment is consistently listed as with the Long Island Railroad.
His naturalization records confirm the above details.
He does not appear in the Social Security Death Indexes; as a railroad employee he would have received a railroad retirement and was not eligible for Social Security.
I would love to hear from anyone connected to this family or who can provide any information on what became of this family.
Many thanks
Jane
