Hello, I just took over administration of this board and hope that you all will use it frequently.
I have found it the posts here very interesting. My husband is descended from Jesse Brock whose father is heavily 'rumored' to be a cohort of Doublehead. It's fairly widely known that Doublehead was a bloodthirsty War Chief in the Chickamauga's of the Chattanooga, TN area (present day). He was indeed murdered by 3 men there...John Ridge being the leader.
Doublehead was likely born on the "Big Island" of the Holsten where some of his other family members were.
The Cornblossom tale is still unproven and, in my book, a fictional tale. Nancy Ward is documented as being the last Beloved Woman of the Cherokee nation. I have several resources available and none mention this woman. There are also NO Troxel surnames mentioned in the Dawes Rolls. There are, as you have seen, Doubleheads in these rolls...all in Oklahoma.
