I don't know if you will get this but Susan Nelle Ermey (who married Christian Columbus Ermey and settled in Erie, KS) was in my own extended line and her maiden name was BEARD--neither Doup (her mother Margaret Elizabeth's maiden name) nor Haas--I don't know where that one came from as there is no such surname in any of the connected lines of this family.

I have evidence that supports the Johannes Doub you are speaking of is not the one on the Richmond, but rather he sailed to America on the Britania 10 years later. I have a copy of a letter from the Church that Johannes was baptized releasing him from the church's membership before he left. The release was in 1773 10 years after the Richmond. Also Johannes mother died in 1772. Another fact supporting the Britannia passenger Johannes Doub is the correct individual.

Hello,
I am working on Cornelius Welch born 1795 Old Ft McDowel, NC. We have not been able to determine his parents.

In the 1790 Census Lincoln NC I see Thomas Welch, Nic Welch, Phil Canseller (Cornelius marries Sarah Canseller) and there are is William Cornelius and Ben Cornelius. I think that Cornelius's father either Thomas or Nic may have married into the Cornelius family. Do you have any connections between Welch and Cornelius families before 1795?

thank you for your time.
Linda
lmarinkovich2549@sbcglobal.net

The George Daub listed in the 1880 census is the brother of Leonhard Daub my 2nd Great Grandfather and his wife Catherine appears to be the sister of my 2nd great Grandmother Maria who was married to Leonhard. George and his family are listed in both the 1860 and 1870 censuses.
In 1856 he and Leonhard were naturalized on the same day-Oct. 24th. The address on the naturalization did not give a house number but is listed as Avenue A, NYC

I have pictures of George's gravestone in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. I haave not learned who George and Leonard's parents are yet.

Pete Antony
Don't forget to advertise the reunion on the DAUB boards too. I've seen the name spelled DOUP on some records too.

Did you notice I found another Daub/Doub living with Jacob and Elizabeth Daub in York County, PA (1860)? This George is one year older than Henry. I've never seen anywhere that Henry had an older brother. George could be link to the other Daub families that lived in Sandusky County, OH. I still can't link the two lines.

Has anyone done anymore research on the family tree?

Karen,
I have information that may link this Doub family to mine. In another message from 1998 you gave a short bio of Jacob Daub/Doub. Me married Elizabeth Wallas. Do you have any information on Elizabeth? Could she have been Elizabeth Wallace? If you haven't found anything in the past 5(!) years since posting this, please drop me a line privately at my email address. I have an original letter to my ggrandfather John Wesley Raub written to him by MC Doub, the proprietor of a store in Arcadia in 1888. Wesley also lists a sale of cigars in his ledgers to Henry Doub. I can lead you to the Wallaces, too, if we have the right one. This could tie up a lot of loose ends for me!

Best Regards,
Michael Raub

Daub Family Research

Hi
My name is Jim Wright, and I too am a researcher working on the Daub Family surname. My Grandmother was Blanche May Daub, and she is a direct descendent of Heinrich Daub
who lived in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Please let me know if you are interested in working together. In your note, you asked for possible descendents of Johann Daub?
In my Daub line, I have a 1st cousin, 9 times removed named Johann Daub. He was born Ocotber 8, 1681. His father was Hermann Daub. Hermann had three children that I know
of at this time, my Johann born October 8, 1681, a sister Elizabeth Daub who was born August 21, 1636, and a brother also named Johann, who was born on February 20, 1664.
I am still putting my research together on this surname, and wonder if we could be working on the same line?

Jim Wright

Two of my direct line, Doub and George, came from Forsyth Co., NC. I have a
considerable amount of data on the Doub family but I've hit a blank wall on
the George family.

My 2nd great grandfather, William H. Doub married a Clarinda George on
October 17, 1850 in Pfafftown, Forsyth County, N.C.. They moved to IN after
the Civil War.

A cousin of Williams, Joseph C. Doub married a Leah Regina George on May 1,
1850 in Forsyth County, N.C.. Her parents were William George and Catherine
Elizabeth Strube. According to the 1850 census this George lived close to
William H. Doub.

I would like to establish the family of Clarinda George.

Thanks
Jim Boruff

My wife is also a descendant of John Doub and is presently researching that line. I am very much interested in receiving a copy of the 1960 booklet you mentioned and would be most happy to pay you for copying and postage. Does the booklet make reference to the vessel "Richmond", where it sailed from, or where it landed? If it does not, do you know where I could obtain that information? Looking forward to hearing from you.

I think the John DOUB referred to in the original question is the one who came to North Carolina in the 1760s, a tanner and later a Methodist preacher. His wife was Mary Eve SPAINHOUR. They had seven sons and two daughters, and many descendants. I have never found any information on his parents or any possible siblings.

Jacob DAUB d. 11 Apr 1890, Ohio

DAUB - Jacob Daub died April 11, 1890 aged 66 y., 4 m. and 10 d. Bro. Daub was born in Germany, and when 8 years old, emigrated to America and settled in York Co., Pa. Jan 16, 1844 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Wallas. This union was blessed with 12 children, 8 sons and 4 daughters, 2 sons preceded him to the spirit world. In 1866 he moved to Ohio. While on a visit to his son Henry, of Hicksville, Ohio, he suddenly took sick, and in less than a day, death had done its work. He was brought to his home in Burgoon, Ohio, where the funeral took place, April 13, from Aion Evangelical church, where he was heard just a week before offering a closing prayer after a sermon by the writer. Bro. Daub was a faithful member of the Ev. Association for about 48 years. He will be greatly missed, but our loss is his gain. M. B.
