I, too, am researching the Dormer's of MI. There seems to be 2 families:

Henry & Anastasia (aka Anna Plant) Dormer, he born ca 1799 in England & living in Calhoun County, MI in 1870 with Anna age 70 & a grandson (?) Abram, age 14. Did they live in Washtenaw County, Ann Arbor areas prior to Calhoun County, MI?

and

Dormer families in Washtenaw County & Livingston County, MI which also may be one linked to mine.

Henry Dormer had at least two sons, Philip Dormer (b. ca 1834-35 in England) and Abram (m. to Rebecca in 1870 & 1880 MI Census).

Marriages in Washtenaw County, MI in 1800's are:

1,Dormer, Philip & Rosier, Elizabeth, Washtenaw, 04 Jul 1853.
1,Dormer, Clarissa & Lee, Richard - Lee, Washtenaw, 16 Mar 1851.

I know that Philip is the son of Henry & Anna & his second marriage was to Charity VanBlaricum on Sept. 01, 1867, in Calhoun County, MI. I don't know if he & Elizabeth Rosier had children, but suspect that Abram, age 14 in 1870 & living with Henry & Anna is Philip's son. Philip & Charity had Franklin & Eugene Dormer. They continued to live in Calhoun County, MI, or at least Franklin Dormer did.

William & Sarah Dormer are listed in the 1880 Handy, Livingston County, MI Census. But, I do not know if he is son or grandson of Henry or one of his sons.

There is also a William Dormer who was married to a Minnie Hartney, who had a son "Louis" who married a Carrie in 1904, so he must be a grandson or great grandson.

You can view the 1870 MI Census online free at the Library of MI site:

Or, just type in 1870 MI Census on your search engine.

So, I have:
1. Henry, age 71, born in England, with Anna, age 70, born in England & Abram, age 14 listed in the Calhoun County, MI Census. I assume that this Abram is a grandson of Henry, possibly by Philip or maybe Abram & Rebecca & living with his grandparents to help them.

2. Philip Dormer, age 33 in 1870 Calhoun County, MI Census, born in England with Charity (VanBlaricum) age 20 listed in 1870 Calhoun County, MI Census & in the 1880 Census of Calhoun Co., MI Census. With Charity he had sons, Eugene & Franklin. I have the VanBlaricum hx.

3. Abram Dormer, age 30 in 1870 Calhoun County, Mi Census with Rebecca (?), age 26, & sons John age 6 & Fred age 2. In 1880 he is listed with Charles (John?) age 17, Fred, age 12 & Minnie age 9, in Tekonsha, Calhoun County, MI.

4. Levi Dormer born ca 1836 in England, in the 1880 in Tekonsha, Calhoun County, MI Census with Jane (?). He died on Dec. 01, 1882 & listed Henry as his father. Jane remarried in Calhoun County, MI on June 23, 1884 to George Washington Lincoln. Unknown if they had children.

There are supposed to be sons:
Edward, born ca 1821 in England, here is one in MI, but note age of wife, an error?.

Lewis born ca 1824 in England-note there is a Louis who is son of William & Minnie (Hartney) Dormer who m. in 1904 who m. a "Carrie".
And, 2 daughters:
Clarissa Dormer b. ca 1835 who m. Richard Lee.
Martha Dormer.

Sincerely,
Marilyn
