I may have responded to this elsewhere, but there are some entries of references to a Christoph Rothweiler in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950). These include wedding anniversary photo and bio in 1921, death notices for Christoph in 1930 and references to Christoph and Mrs. in death notices for Clarence M. in 1918.

For more specific information contact:
Gary Rebholz, compiler/editor
Milwaukee Wis.
gary.rebholz@gmail.com
Indexing Milwaukee's German newspapers continuously since 2007... helping to access our historic German-American culture.
Hallo,
I read your description of your family story and maybe we have three oder four generations ago a grandmother or grandfather in common.

I live in Stuttgart, a city about 8 km away from Esslingen. In Linsenhofen I myself have never been, but I know, it is a small village in the south of Esslingen, probably near Reutlingen oder Nürtingen.

My grandfather came as a young man in the beginning of the 20 century from this region to Stuttgart and my father (born 1919) told me, that a female relative of my grandfather (I don´t know whether sister or probably an aunt) left her village, after she became a widow and could not run the farm alone, with her four children and went to America.

Brave woman!

For the moment, this is all I can tell, but maybe we can find out more.

I hope, you understand my English. (My German is better and my Swabian is perfect; thats the dialect, we speak here, and your grand grand grand father or mother did).

Liebe Grüsse aus Stuttgart

Claudia Dolde
P.S. My mail adress is cdolde@aol.com oder cdolde@freenet.de
