I don't have very much on either family side, but I would be glad to help if possible.

MGDubuc@Cox.net

I don't have much info on the Waage branch, but I do know where they owned land in Madison county. I've also been to the Mundis cemetery where they are buried. They have a modern monument. There is an old marble stone for four of their children who died at young ages. I would like to repair that stone in the future, but it's a bit of a drive for me from Oklahoma. ( I have a monument restoration business.)

I have photographs of Maria Doebele Waage's sister, Marianna. Do you have any old photos of the family? I assume Johannes and verena Doebele are buried in the Mundis cemetery, but there are no stones for them. Suppose it is possible for them to be buried at marine or highland, but I do not know.

I look forward to corresponding with you in the future. You can email me at idswart(at)hotmail.com.

Bonnie,
Not sure if there is a relation, but i have put up a lot of stuff dating back to 1819 from Murg, Germany where at least what I know is my side of the Doebele family. They did come to New Orleans around 1847. Severin and Emile Severin built several homes in the french quarter. take a peek and see if there might be a connection.

Sorry this is way late. But just in case...Soard's Directory of New Orleans (1885) lists Emile Doebele as a grocer and resident of 227 N. Rampart; Severin Doebele, meanwhile, was a cistern maker who lived at the rear of the property. Best of luck!

Bonnie! I think I found some info that pertains to us! I found a Marianna Dobeli who married Samuel Kleiner with all the right children. She had a brother name Jakob who married Emilia Hotz. And a sister named Maria who married Conrad Christian Waage. Their parents were Johannes Dobeli and Verena Baumann. They came from the right area of Switzerland and emigrated to Highland, Il. I think this is our match! I got an email address and will be asking for more information. There are 67 descendants in this tree, with 17 being from your Jakob. They have his dates as c. 1820-c1855. What do you think???

Ian Swart

Meet in New Orleans?

Is anyone interested in a Doebele 'reunion' in New Orleans? It wouldn't have to be a big deal. Just a way for us genealogists to get together; or it could be a family reunion? Whatever. We could bring our family group sheets & our photos and fill in all the blanks. We could even reserve the conference table at Kinko's and have copy services available. What do you think?

I was looking over the message board & I can't believe I didn't reply to your kind message! Please forgive me. I am back doing this line again and have a question. You said Emile was your great grandfather, Who was his son, your grandfather, who married Theola Thompson? Do you have Emile's children? I have this if you need it. Have you done anything on the Manhart line? I have done a little research but I don't find much on them. I found a Severin Doebele in the 5th Co. 6th Regt European Guards, Louisiana Militia in the Civil War. It states his age as 46 but gives no date. I am willing to share any info I have. Oh, I have Alice Doebele's phot album & so have some pictures of family and friends. If you want any of these I would be happy to send you a scan. Thanks.

Hello,
I just wanted to give you some information about the Doebeles of Murg and about Murg itself:

-	Doebele is one of the most common surnames in Murg, several families lived and still live at the same time
-	It was the use in Murg to give the families „house names“ to name the different branches of these families, for instance the „Keller – Döbele“. This ist he name of a family which descends from a Doebele who was a „Kellermeister“ = „cellarius“.
-	The above mentioned Severin Doebele, b. 1819 is listed in an Ortssippenbook (OSB), written by Dr. Helmut Faller of Bad Säckingen, with an ancestry back to the 1600’s.
-	His emigration to the U.S. is mentioned, but without year.
-	The OSB is available thru the LDS Library
-	Murg is located directly on the Rhine river which is border to Switzerland; it’s in the middle between Basel (west) and Lake of Constance (east).
-	Spelling variations in the church records: Doebelin, Debelin, Debele
-	Homepage of the City of Murg (in German): http://www.murg.de/
-	Murg has a population of total 6.900 people

Andreas Zipfel-Waag, Karlsruhe, Baden
