I am hoping somebody on this board will be able to point me in the right direction !!! My Grandmother was Myrtle Aleen Dodd, who married Jesse Dennis Jenkins (approx. 1926) in Dallas, TX......My family has absolutely NOTHING on Grandma Myrtle.....All we know is that she was born Jan 24, 1904 (and only learned that from the SS Death Index)......She died Aug 16, 1980 in Calif......Oral Family history says that she was born in TN & came to Dallas at a VERY early age (8 to 10 y/o ) on her own, after leaving her family home in Tennessee......Her mother had died & her father married the "WICKED STEP-MOTHER" who beat her.....Grandma rarely spoke of her family because of this......She had other SIBS, but I have only met one.......Uncle Sam Dodd. I believe he was younger then her, but don't know this as fact! He was a traveler.....all across the country! The last I saw of him was around 1977, in Kingman, AZ. He was a Ol' Fart single guy & I don't believe he ever married or when he died.......My mom was in touch with SOMEBODY (a cousin, with an email "sfraser@????something else") who knew about our family.....My Mom has lost the email address & we can't seem to find the woman ! HELP!!! LOL Does this sound familar to anybody on this board??? Any INFO would be very much appreciated! OH! One last thing, the SS Death Index lists her mother's maiden name as SANDERS......Don't know if this is correct, because Grandma was a VERY private woman......never said squat about her past! She did tell us that when she got to Dallas, A Jewish family who was a furrier (furs!!!) took her in & gave her a place to live & work.....mind you, she was only around 10 y/o at the time !!! Thanks in advance! Please help me, I'm soooooo confused! LOL
