I am looking for information concerning my Grandfather, Arthur Newton Doan.
Family information is sketchy at best, but here is what I have. He was born in 1899(?) in Mason City, Iowa. He served in World War I in the medical corps. His service number is ASN64566411. He married Janie Malinda Kersey in Georgia probably in late 1920. He supposedly died in Savannah, Georgia in 1922 in a flood. I have a picture of him and my grandmother about the time they were married. He is in uniform.
Family legend has it that he is the son of the man who "invented" Doan's Pills. Supposedly he and his father had a LARGE disagreement and my grandfather left.
Any information that anyone can supply about this grandfather of mine would be greatly appreciated. This search is truly becoming a crusade since I lost my father in 1976 and my grandmother in 1996. I would like for my sons to know the facts about our namesake ancestors.
