Where in Hiram Doak's line do you fit in?
I have found no record of Samuel and elizabeth arriving in U.S. and no one else seems to have either. I have a man in Ireland who will do some research but I have not been able to find Samuel's father's name.
Do you know if William or John (the deceased sons) was the oldest as it seems to be that one or the other would have been named after the paternal grandfather and one son after the maternal grandfather. There are many Samuel Doaks that came from Ireland so I am having trouble finding the exact one to do the research on. I have a copy of the land deed to Samuel in W.V.but have not found any death records for him. Do you know when he died or when Elizabeth died?

My great granfather's sister Lydia Malseed went to America about one hundred and seventy-five years ago, I wonder if there is a connection.

yours is an old posting so you may have this info but Samuel Doak and Elizabeth Malseed (malceed) had a son William who died in infancy so he did not marry a Malseed.
No one seems to know for sure when he died or where he came in the line of children. They had another who also died young,a son John.

Hiram Doak had one daughter. Her name was Mariah Jane or sometimes it is listed as May Jane. She married Simon Coleman in 1858, divorced him in 1864 in Tyler County, then married Charles Dotson in 1864, according to court records.
This seems strange. They both died in Concordia, Ks. She in 1918 and he in 1899.

I found this information on rootsweb:

Samuel and Elizabeth came from Ireland to Pennsylvania about the year 1800, and later moved to the are of Middle Island Creek, Virginia in 1824. This area became a part of West Virginia in 1863 when Virginia was divided into two states.

The Cemetery is located on a hill behind the first house to the left as one passes the Arnolds Creek Christian Church. To find the church, take Route 18 north from West Union (Doddridge Co.) and after 5-6 miles turn to the left on Deep Valley Road. The church is several miles further.
