Any relation to William and Stephania Dmytruk (from Austria, Poland or Romania?) William was born 1883, Stephania in 1889, (same birthplace), Bukowina. William apparently had at least two brothers and they may have all moved to Canada at the same time in the early 1900's.

To Gwenn...was excited to read your message here but have tried to e-mail you twice...you have different e-mail addresses on each posting, but my e-mails keep getting returned. You did not mention your married name so I have no other way of contacting you. Please contact me at the e-mail or even phone (306)246-4745. I live in Saskatchewan. My great grand parents came from Ukraine in I beleive 1910, their names were John and Annie. They came to Radisson, SK for about a year before settling in the district I live now, not far from North Battleford, Sk. With a name like Dmytruk, we must be somehow related ! If we are, you will be pleased to know that you are part of a fairly large family...there are lots of cousins out here. We'll talk more if you get this message. Hope to hear from you soon. - Carol Funk

Hello,
I just saw this posting. My great-grandparents Theodor and Rachela came from the Ukraine in 1903 with 2 children. Their last name was spelled Dmytriuk. My great-grandmother Rachela had a sister in Winnepeg. Is there a chance that the last name was changed? We spell it Demetrick now. Thanks Bonnie Demetrick St.Onge

Hi carol! I am a new member and so i have just read your post. My father, Leonard Dmytruk, has done alot of research on the family name and your grandparents ring a bell. I will go and check my papers and will reply to you if you are still looking. My grandfather came to canada in the 20's and met up with his cousin or came over with his cousin Max Dmytruk. Grandpa lived in Winnipeg. Good Luck on your searching.

Just read your post. My grandfather-in-law came over from Ukraine and settled in Berlin NH. From: Province of Volhynia, Canton of Kovil, District of Kamin-Kashrskii, Village of Huta Kaminska in the Ukraine. According to his immigration papers, his father was Stepan Moisiech Dmitruk. Our name was changed to DeMetrick. I know he had an uncle who also came over. He apparently settled in Alberta. Also has a cousin who lived in Michigan whom he visited about 25 years ago. Is any of the familiar to anyone?

My great step-grandfather Anthony Dmytruk came from Kamin-Kashrskii to Chicago via Canada in the 19-teens. He always told people that he went to Canada as a logger and was supposed to return to the Ukraine but jumped ship to stay here. He married my great grandmother Josephine Zagorski and ran a barber shop inside the Congress Theater for many years.

Sorry it took so long to reply. This sounds very familiar. I have family photos supposedly with picture of my father-in-law's relatives (taken in NH) who left the US shortly after the visit to live in Canada. Do you know his date of birth or when he immigrated? Also, does the name Mikhail Dmytruk sound familiar?
