My greatgrandfather was Joseph (Josef) Dlouhy who married Josephine Votroubek. I have no dates for them for birth, death or marriage. They settled near Cedar Rapids, Iowa and had 5 children, Blanche, Joe, Steve, Ben and Emil. Emil was my grandfather born March 28, 1899. He married Helen Earsa who was born May 16, 1898. Her parents were Charles Earsa and Helen Benish. No dates for them either.

I am trying to find my grandmothers family. I don't have a lot of information for it seems that she did't talk to much of her familt. Her name was Marie Dlouhy and was born in Allegany Pa. I believe she had to brothers Joseph and John but,not sure. I know very little about them or what there parents name was. I do believe her real mother died and her father remarried again and there was some type of friction. My grandmother married Vaclav Dvorak and lived in Chicago.I tried to get a birth certificate from the state of Penn. but was told none where issue at that time bit where recorded in the churches. She was Born August 16, 1878. Any help would be appreciated.

During the time period your talking about,
the Dlouhy's I have were born in Bratislava,
Bohemia. They didn't arrive in the US until
the late 1880's or 1890's.
The Church of Jesus Christ has genealogy
libraries and they might have the church records
your looking for from Pennsylvania. That would
be my guess as to your next step. The records
would be on microfish. (Spelled incorrectly)
You do not have to be a member of their church
to use the library. In fact, most people who
use it are not members. For a small price,
2 or 3 dollars you can order the film. If you
want to look into this option contact me and
I will give you more info. Chicago has records
available and they also have a bohemian newspaper
that has alot of obit and marriage announcements
in it.
Good luck,
Wendy

Is that the country your relatives were from? My grandfather was from Bohemia, and I was told he was related to President Benes'. (I think all the Benish's were told that!) ha

My info on Dlouhy ancestors is sketchy. My great grandmother according to family history eloped with Dlouhy who worked on her father's estate. Their daughter Marie was born in Prague, or Pragire, can't make it out. Do you have anything to fit this. Thanks much. Laura.
