My mother is a Dinsmore from Kells, near Ballymena. She sent me some research recently that included details of those who had gone to the USA e.g. I only just found out there were 2 Governors of N.H.

Hilda Heath Dinsmore b. 1911 Maryland - living in Bellefonte, Delaware in 1944

I am searching for any information regarding Hilda (Heath) Dinsmore known to be living in Bellefonte, Delaware in October 1944. She was the wife of Harold Pattey Dinsmore and the daughter of Oscar Cleveland Heath and Ethel Tooley.

The reason for my search is very strange...but I will try to explain...Hilda's mother, Ethel, is the daughter of Sarah Tooley. Sarah was married twice...first to Mr. Tooley and then to David Weeks. David Weeks is my great-grandfather. I know absolutely nothing about him, except what I have found online. Just recently, I was able to locate his obituary but it contains little information about his life and nothing about his first wife - my great grandmother. My hope is to find something, somewhere, about this family and hopefully, this will lead to finding information about my family.

I have recently found that Hilda's husband, Harold, was apparently murdered in North Carolina...and I have a copy of his death certificate. I know virtually nothing else - except for what is contained in census records.

If anyone can provide any additional information, I would greatly appreciate it!! Thank you very much!

Update: Harry Dinsmore is listed as G. H. Dinsmore on the 1945 Florida Census and is 33 which would put birth in 1912. He is listed as born in New York. Seeking any information. Not sure about his death date. I have only work of mouth for this. Liste as a resident in a boarding house at 226 Phelps Street, Jacksonville, Florida.

We have an old photo album with mostly unidentified photos from the 1800's. We believe it was left in my husband's home in North Vancouver and, thinking it was his family's, he packed it when he moved. He has since checked with his relatives and there does not seem to be any connection to the McKee family. There is one photo of Mark Dowzer taken in 1893, Stockton, California and an “In memorium” card for Mrs. Ann Jane "Jennie" Dowzer, (nee McDonald) who died in 1892 at age 45. She and Mark were married in St. Mary's, Ontario. There are a number of photos from a studio in St. Mary's, some in Stockton, Cal. and some from Manitoba and Saskatchewan. I assume that the entire photo album may be connected to the Dowzer/McDonald/Sterne family in some way. John McDonald of St. Mary’s, Ontario, is also identified in one of the photos, surrounded by his four children.

Jacob Hardin Dinsmore and Elizabeth Fear are buried in Boone County. In the Poplar Grove cemetery less than a quarter of a mile from where I grew up.

Recently I recieved a bunch of photos from my husband's aunt. In the pack was a picture of an unidentified soldier of WWII era. He looks like no one in the family. I asked the aunt who gave it to us who the man is. She said he was Bill Dinsmore. I told her I had never heard of the Dinsmore name in the family. She said she was her mother's cousin. This is news to me. I cannot find a Dinsmore connection at all and wonder if this might have been a family friend. The mother's name was Lavinia M. Maloon. Lavinia was also known as Vinnie Maloon. Vinnie was the daughter of Newell Maloon and Annie Carvill Lane. She married Reuben Vaughn They all lived in Maine. Does anyone recognize any connection? If you can show that this Bill Dinsmore is your relation I would be happy to send the picture to the first person who can show some sort of relationship to him and how he ties in to Vinnie Maloon

All I know of her is her name! She had quite a few children with the names, Milo, Ephraim, Jerusha, Elesef ( hadn't ever heard of this before ), Sarah, Laura, Mary Louise ( my great grandmother), Arza, Reuben, Chloe. This man is one of my direct ancestors....my problem is this....there is no record of who his parents were. And when I bought the Dinsmore books, this line isn't even in them! According to what I have seen online, his father was a Thomas possibly, but even the Thomas is not verified anywhere.....does anyone have any verified info on this man. I have his Rev War info from Footnote.com. He married a Love Leeman, Their son Ephraim is my GGG grandfather. His daughter Love Leeman Dinsmore born 5/12/1808 is my GG grandmother. Her daughter Mary Louise Dibble was my great grandmother. She married Jesse O. Burgess in Iowa.

I started to type this and pushed the wrong button. If you get two of these disregard the other one. Abraham is the son of Thomas and Hannah of Hollis New Hampshire - first of Bedford Massachusetts. Abraham is the brother of Abel who is my line.
I have some references for you about the Dinsmores and Abraham and if you will contact me at my e-mail address I will give them to you. If you have any questions about this family I can help you down after Abraham, but I am also having difficulty finding where Thomas fits into the line going up. I cannot connect him to the John that everyone says comes from Antrim Ireland and is related to the Laird in Scotland. I have not been able to find any documentation that makes that connection. I would like any information I can get on Fannie Lou Warren. My 2 great grandmother Melinda Maggie Dinsmore married William Marion Warren. I know William married 3 times; Lavina and Fannie Lou are daughters of William Marion Warren first marriage. When Melinda died William sent their children to live with Fannie Lou and Francis Marion Dinsmore. I find Fannie Lou and Francis Marion Dinsmore in 1880 cenus name is missed spelled. No children

My grandfather, Frank L. Dinsmore, was born in Northampton, Mass. 12/25/1892. We think that his father, Frank H. Dinsmore was possibly born in 1859 (Conway, Mass.?). We do know that he died in 1901 and is buried in Northampton. Since my grandfather was so young when his father died, we do not have any information related the rest of the family. Any related information that you may have about this family and would be willing to forward on would be appreciated.

Your granfather George L. Dinsmore and my g-grandfather (Stanley W. Dinsmore) were brothers. I really don't have much info since my grandfather (Robert C. Dinsmore)remarried when my father was young.
I was able to trace George A Dinsmore to his mother Ida Dinsmore.
I am curious to know more about the "Dyke" rumors from your side of the family. We were told that we descend from a Blackfoot Indian mother who had children with a "Van Dyke" but passed on her maiden name (Dinsmore)

Robert MCCONAUGHY was born 1691 in Tyrone County, Northern Ireland and died 09 September 1758 in York County, Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth DINSMORE (also known as "Elizabeth DENSMORE") who was born 1691 and died 1788 probably in Adams County which had been formed from the western part of York County in 1780. They are both buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Adams County, Pennsylvania.

Thomas Hughes Dinsmore was born 15 August 1819 in Rich Hill, Greene County, Pennsylvania and died 21 September 1905 in Muskegon, Michigan. He married Elizabeth McConaughy 14 September 1847.

Does anyone know if or how these two couples are related? Robert McConaughy is my immigrant ancestor.

Robert McConaughy was a great uncle of David McConaughy, a leading figure in the founding of Gettysburg National Cemetery. David graduated Washington College 1840 while his uncle, Rev. David McConaughy, was president there. Thomas Hughes Dinsmore graduated from the same school 1843. David was 17 in 1840 and Thomas was 24 in 1843. I think Thomas was only there one year.

Samuel Dinsmore shows up in Russell Co VA in 1805. I believe this to be the Samuel who married Elizabeth Allen in Augusta Co VA. Going thru the personal property tax lists, I find the following sons for him: Samuel Jr., Ebenezer, William & James. (James will name his 1st son, Ebenezer Allen)
This family shows up in Wash Co VA in 1830, going thru the personal property tax lists, I find these additional sons for Samuel: Enos & Fullen.
Any help with this line is appreciated!

Cornelius Dinsmore, b. 1740-1765-ish, Conway, NH

Father of Fanny Dinsmore, b. @1790, who married Enoch Abbott, is listed as Cornelius, but gives a DOB of 1740 and DOD of 1836. 1790-1830 census records, indicate he was likely born much later than 1740, and likely after 1763.
Given that Fanny/Fannie was born 1790, or later, that makes much more sense.

In 1790 Census, Cornelius is listed in Ossipee, in 1800, in Conway, in 1810, in Wakefield. Still seeking him in later records.

Does anyone viewing this message board have any further or harder factual data on this individual?

In my search for Vannatta references, I have come across the following mis-spelling which I believe may help someone in their work. ( Panata ).

1) ref 1850 census Richhill TWP Greene Co. PA dwelling #291
This family, John Vanatta and wife Nancy have a son Phillip (4 yrs).
2) ref 1850 census Richhill TWP Greene Co. PA dwelling #269
This family, Thomas Dinsmore and wife Mary Gray lists Lydia Vanatta (9yrs) as a resident.

3) ref. 1860 census Richhill TWP, Greene Co. PA, dwelling #128 .
The census record for Thomas Dinsmore family has Lydia Vanatta (19 yrs) and Phillip Vanatta(14yrs) as residents.

Thomas Dinsmore and wife Mary Gray, a descendant of Robert Dinsmore and Mary Scott are mentioned in another document of interest.

The historical reference 'Genealogical and Personal Memorial of Mercer County, New Jersey' page 755, is recounting the Dinsmore family line. Members of this Dinsmore line are found in Pennsylvania. It references, --- Nancy, Mrs. John Panata, now Mrs. Millikin) ---.

Evidently John's wife remarried a Mr. Millikin. There are several Millikin households in Richhill TWP in 1860's.

This document is available on Google Books. A search for any combination of these names will bring up this book and its pages in either text or image.

2) Is the Lydia Dinsmore listed in the 1876 Caldwell maps of Greene Co. Richhill TWP, Pennsylvania the same person as Lydia Vanatta?

I'm looking for information on the Dinsmore family that lived in Boone County, Indiana. Jacob Dinsmore moved to Indiana from Kentucky. He married Elizabeth Fear and they had twins Elmaza and Elmada. Elmaza is my great-grandmother. I have a picture of the twins but I don't know which one she is. She married Richard Vice. Any info on the Dinsmore family would be appreciated.
