Robert MCCONAUGHY was born 1691 in Tyrone County, Northern Ireland and died 09 September 1758 in York County, Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth DINSMORE (also known as "Elizabeth DENSMORE") who was born 1691 and died 1788 probably in Adams County which had been formed from the western part of York County in 1780. They are both buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Adams County, Pennsylvania.

Thomas Hughes Dinsmore was born 15 August 1819 in Rich Hill, Greene County, Pennsylvania and died 21 September 1905 in Muskegon, Michigan. He married Elizabeth McConaughy 14 September 1847.

Does anyone know if or how these two couples are related? Robert McConaughy is my immigrant ancestor.

Robert McConaughy was a great uncle of David McConaughy, a leading figure in the founding of Gettysburg National Cemetery. David graduated Washington College 1840 while his uncle, Rev. David McConaughy, was president there. Thomas Hughes Dinsmore graduated from the same school 1843. David was 17 in 1840 and Thomas was 24 in 1843. I think Thomas was only there one year.
