I descend from Samuel's brother John. I have been researching Samuel's fammily a bit anf have found some problems with what a published family tree contends and other records. For instance, in the 1881 census for Blanchard, Perth County, there is a Samuel Dinsmore, age 48, born in Ireland and living with wife Susannah, age 43, born in England, and children born in ON: Mary 21, William 19, Evelyn, 17, Adelaide, 15.

Also from birth records, on 1 Mar 1861 to Samuel Disnmore, carriage maker, was born a daughter in Blanchard. Is this a daughter of Samuel and Sussanah?

Hi there,

I have the same info and have found Samuel in the 1871 and 1881 censuses. I think you are a bit off on the birthdates for the children.

However, I need someone to clear up some discrepencies:

TO CHECK OUT: Some discrepency regarding who exactly were all the children of Samuel. In the 1881 census there is an Elizabeth Vealine. Is this defintely Evelyn?

And

TO CHECK OUT: 1 Mar 1861 to Samuel Dinsmore, carriage maker, was born a daughter. Is this a daughter of Samuel and Sussanah? If so, it would be ebtween William and Evelyn. Did this child survive?

I have a Julia Dowzer, born in Ireland on 9 Oct 1844, immigrated to Canada in 1848. She married John Bowes in Albion, Cardwell, before or around 1865. They had 12 children. She died 28 Feb 1905. I haven't found her parents yet. Does this sound like your Julia?

Absolutely that is our Julia and am so pleased to finally find someone perhaps descended from her. Are you able to help in any way?

Most Sincerely Bob Toronto

Julia Dowzer and John Bowes are my husband's great grandparents. Angelina, their 7th child, married Alfred Harper on 21 Jan 1903, in Palgrave, ON. They moved to Macklin, SK, as did John, her father and Wilbert, her youngest brother. I have Angelina's birthday book with names and dates of her siblings.
Hannah A. (1865-1891), Henry Thomas (1867- ), David (1870- 1881), Clara Lavina (1871-1905), Lambert (1873-1909), Rosella (1875- ), Angelina (1877-1837), George (1879- 0), William Issac (1881- ), Newman (1884-1894), Olive Myrtle (1886-1894), Wilbert Herman (1889-1940). I have lots more. Let's trade info.

Looks like you are getting some good responses. Sadly, this is not my line.

Arlea, am much better now and can answer your query. Yes, this is a branch of our Dowzer family and would be pleased to provide you with what little information we do have on it.

For example you show no death date for Henry Thomas we believe it is 1949.
Also you show Olive Myrtle's death date as 1894 but we have the date as Aug. 9th, 1888.

If you would like to trade further info please contact me directly at barrettx@allstream.net
