I wish I knew more about my Maniero ancestors but I don't. Maria MANIERO was the mother of my great grandfather who came to New York at the turn of the century. I only learned her name through my great grandfather's application for a social security number. My ggf was born on Ischia (a small island off Naples). I do not know if his mother was born there or not. One of my cousins has a box of documents that may have more info but I don't know. I haven't started doing serious research on my Italian ancestors because it is so hard to find records without going to Italy.
