Hello Colonel Dilg:
Thank you for your interesting response.
By the way, how are we related? Are you also descended from George and Frederick's father - Johann Nikolaus? (Frederick Dilg was my gg grandfather.)
The furthest back that I have been able to achieve in my search is to George and Frederick's grandfather Johann Michael Dilg who married Christina Woernerin on 13 Feb 1803 in Gollheim (Pfalz, Bayern). Their son, my gg grandfather Johann Nikolaus Dilg, was born on 8 OCT 1807 in Gollheim and christened on 11 OCT 1807 in the Evangelische Kirche Gollheim (BA. Kirchheimbolanden). gg grandfather Johann Nikolaus married Miss Catherine Howenstein (born June 24, 1806) and along with their four children (George Philip, Nicholas, Katherine, and my g grandfather - Frederick b 3 Feb 1840) immigrated to the United States in 1845.
Do you have any information on Johann Michael Dilg and Christina Woernerin Dilg and their ancestors? Any information would be appreciated. You mentioned that you have a Frederick's calling card during his residence in the Old Soldier's home in California. Would it be possible to obtain an electronic copy of it? (My email address is
nagirragpc@yahoo.com)
The only information that I have of the family in Germany is that listed above. If interested, I would be happy to provide you with any/all information on the family in the US.
Regards,
Paul Garrigan
