Hello,
I am searching for a Henry Deardorff who died in 1793 in Botetourt VA. He left behind a daughter Elizabeth and a son Jacob both under the age of 14. John Heiner was appointed their guardian along with Nicholas Carper. I have been told that Nicholas Carper was the minster of the First Presbyterian Church in Fincastle. I am guessing that John Heiner is the husband of Magdelina Deardorff. Does anyone know more about this story?

Does anyone have any information on the parents of Emma Dierdorff. She was born in Illinois and died quite young in Havana, Mason, Illinois. She married John Brown and they had four children. She may have also used the name Cora, but she married as Emma.

mtDNA is present in all cells of the body. It is inherited by both female and male children from their mothers but only a female can pass it onto her children. The male child has it but can't pass it on to his children. So one can trace a line from child to mother to mother to mother to back in the beginnings of mankind. It does not mutate as often as the male Y DNA does and lasts longer than Y DNA. This mtDNA is what is taken from extremely old bones that are found. Try this website for a more accurate explanation. http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/chromosome=MT

Karen, let me know how to get in touch with you and I can give you what I have. I am sure that the handwritten Dierdorf history that I had (will have to put up a search for it) had the Dierdorfs coming from a small town outside of Dusseldorf, Germany. I also remember a Bayer woman on it.

Janet

I believe my g. grandfather, Phillip, changed the spelling of our name. I wish he hadn't. I think if I were a male I'd change it back to the original. G. grandparents had a daughter who married a Redenbacher. Orville is my cousin a few times removed. So I'd say 'Janet' and I are cousins too

I am very familiar with your line of the family. I have been to a couple of your reunions in Brazil. I have exchanged information with your cousin Carolyn. I looked in my program and only have sons Harold and Mark listed for Mable and have no wives for them! I thought I might have your info but I don't show it.

We have a cousin Shirley, who has done extensive research, even in Germany and she has not been able to find a village or twon there with records.

I know Carolyn does a great job of keeping tabs on everyone in your line. I have not been as active in researching as I used to be!

Carol and Christy

I will have to write to my husbands cousin to see if they have found the exact village. The Dierdorf family history says that Peter J. Dierdorf was born December 23 , 1806 in Prussia and died in Nov. 22, 1876 in Clay Co., IN. My husbands line is. He taught one of his oldest grandson's, Harry Dierdorf our uncle, German. He used to take him on long walks when Harry was just a boy.

Our Dierdorf line:

Peter Dierdorf and Gertrude Sybella Wermeskirchen and their son
Joseph Dierdorf and Mary Unsold and their son
Henry Daniel Dierdorf and Anna Louise Steuerwald and their daughter
Mable Dierdorf (my mother in law).
She was related to Orville Reddenbacker.

The Dierdorfs have a reunion every year in Brazil, IN. Some of my husbands family still go. I believe it will be soon.

Janet

Looking for info on parents/siblings/ancestry of Jacob V. Deardorff (Dierdorff), born ca 1815 in Ohio, died ca. 1879 in Darke County, Ohio. His mother's name was Anna __?__, born ca. 1778 in Pennsylvania. Jacob was enumerated in Warren County in 1850 and 1860, Butler County in 1870. Married: 1st (?) Emily A. Funk in Champaign County, Ohio; 2nd (?) Rosannah L. Taylor, daughter of Alexander and Mary Ann (Tucker) Taylor of Montgomery County, Ohio. Jacob and Rosannah had at least 4 children. Their son, William Augustus Deardorff, was my g-grandfather. There were at least two other Jacob Deardorff's in southwest Ohio in the early-mid 1800s which adds confusion. Any info appreciated.

What I have is that the same Jacob Deardorff/Dierdorff married Elizabeth Sarah Stailey (26 April 1808 in Botetourt County, Virginia) and then Elizabeth Lesh (28 January 1811 in Preble County, Ohio). I have not verified this info - it is from the Peters book. I have 10 children for Jacob and Elizabeth Lesh. This Jacob was a son of Peter Dierdorff and Christina Swyer. Peter was a son of the immigrant Anthony.

This Jacob was born 27 December 1781 in York County, Pennsylvania and died 27 February 1856 in Preble County.

Vanessa

I would like to know about the Descendents of Anthony Dierdorff and Anna Marie Yager. In particular I would like to know how many Jacob Dierdorff, Deardorff, Deardoff grandsons he had born around 1780-1790. I know of one born in 1881 that married an Elizabeth Lesh. He was supposed to have been born in York Pa then moved to Botetort VA where he married in 1811 Elizabeth Lesh then moved to Preble OHio.
Another one is a Jacob who changed his name to Deardoff, Dearduff. Born in VA, married Elizabeth Sarah Stailey in Botetort VA in 1808, moved to Brush CReek Ohio before 1810 with the Yager/ Yargers. He had about 15 children. his gggrandson named Yager Deardeuff. I would like to get their parents straight. I believe Jacob Dearduff is a grandson of Anthony Dierdorff and Anna Marie Yager.
Thank you,
LeAnne Deardeuff
