Craig R. Dieffenbach, 58,
of 24 Dewey Place,
died unexpectedly Sunday, May 8, 2011,
at his home.
A Jamestown native,
he was born July 11, 1952,
the son of Erle Dieffenbach and Analinda Brown Dieffenbach Felt.
Craig graduated from Southwestern Central School in 1970, followed by service to his country in the U.S. Navy.
He worked as the captain of commercial fishing vessels based out of Florida, Virginia and Texas. In Jamestown, he pursued a career in sales and water treatment, most recently as an employee of Pro Chem Tech, Brockway, Pa.
His passion and love for animals and the outdoors was a constant theme throughout his life.
Surviving besides his mother, with whom he made his home, are his wife Kathy Hays Dieffenbach of Frewsburg; sons: Joshua and Jacob of Falconer; brothers: Timothy Dieffenbach of Holland, N.Y., and Mark (Ellen) Dieffenbach and children Michael, Clare and Matthew; a sister, Rebecca Steed of High Acres, Bemus Point; nephew, Jeremy (Stacy) Kirschman and children Kaylen and Luke; a stepsister, Peggy Felt of Rochester, N.Y., and her son Benjamin of New York City.
A time of remembrance will be held at 6 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Everyone is invited to come and share a story of Craig.
