Margaret Diebold is my maternal great grandmother. She was born in New Orleans, La. ca 1862-1865; died New Orleans, La. 5 Jul 1931. She married William Henry Wendt in New Orleans, La. in 26 Mar 1881. According to her marriage certificate her parents were Balthasar Diebold and Franziska/Francis KRAMER. Both parents were from Germany. The following is a note found in my mother papers after her death. I believe it is part of Francis Kramer Diebold’s obituary.

“Mrs. Frances Diebold
Dies at Age of 94
Sept 14

Was born 94 years ago in Baden Baden, Germany and came to New Orleans at age of 23 with her husband and 2 children, John and Rosa Diebold. Active in church work, devout member of the Eight Street Methodist Episcopal Church and of the German Ladies of the Layette Benevolent Association.

Mrs. Diebold was the mother of 13 children, of whom 3 survive her: John and Fred Diebold and Mrs. W. H. Wendt.

She is also survived be 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.”
