I'm looking for any information on Charles Joseph Hurl/Hirl. He was born around Nov 1883 to an Annie M/F Haskell. Charles told his family that his father's name was Joseph Hurl. In the records that I have found, there have been two spellings Hurl and Hirl. He told his children that he was born in Boston, Ma, but no record can be found for him. His wife stated that he was born in Woods Hole, Falmouth, Ma, again, no record can be found.

This is the information that I do have:

Charles born abt Nov 1883. M: Catherine Josephine Griffin in 1927. D: 14 Sep 1956
The first record I find on Charles is in 1905 when he "arrives" on a ship as a cattleman, but a native to the US. Then the next record is the 1920 Census. Charles listed his parents as Charles J Hurl and Annie Haskell when he married Catherine.

Mother: Annie Haskell born abt 1857 to David Butts Haskell and Ann Hayden in Fall River, MA
Annie was married (records found) to a Joseph Devlin in 1891. She marries again to an Angus McAvoy (MacAvoy) in 1896. In both marriages, she is listed as being born in Fall River, Ma. She had one other known child named Mary Catherine Hirl born Dec 21, 1883. (please note I have found no Birth record under this name, however, I did locate a record for a Mary Catharine Devlin born on the same date to a Joseph Devlin (b:Ireland) and an Annie (b Fall River). Also, Mary Catherine Hirl McNally's death record stated her age, which calculated to the same birth date as above). Charles' children remember Mary, as Meme. They also remember cousins, that I have linked back to this Annie Haskell.

Between the time of birth to her marriage, I found no information on her. When she Married there are several registers that list her parents as Joseph Hirl or John Hirl and Annie Haskell. The names get swapped a couple of times. Her Death record states her parents names as Joseph Hurl and Annie Haskell.

Father: Joseph/Charles/John Hurl/Hirl or maybe even Devlin. Born in Ireland.

Also, one last note: Charles had told his family, that his mother, Annie Haskell, had "shipped" him and his sister off to another family to take care of them.

As you can see, there are many differences in the name of the father. In the last three years, I have been all through Ancestery.com, FamilySearch.org, to Sandwich and Falmouth, Ma vital records, as well as Mass Vital Records, and Mass State Archives.

So, any help would be greatly appreciated!!
