Hello Deb,
Is that the same Ships List I found and emailed you back in June of 2012, or is there a different one? ;-) LOL! I have attached some photos of it.

I have also been searching the Swiss Civil Registrations and found a birth record of Grandpa's (Fritz's brother). I dont think their marriage records go back that far. The name of record for grandpa's family, while in Switzerland, was "Darrendinger". I found several records in the Swiss Civil Registration Archive. The location of the "Darrendinger" family seems to originate from Biel, Bern, Switzerland.

"LauraCleland" has posted misinformation about Rudolf's death.

Swiss Family Derendinger/ Darrendinger

My grandfather is Fritz Derendinger. Attached is the 1888 Ships List. Which includes Rudolph (Father), Louise (Mother), Elise (may be Rudolph's sister) and Fritz (Age 10).

Also attached is information from the Swiss Civil Archive: Birth of Louis John Derendinger, in Switzerland, to Rudolph and Louise.

There was an earlier post that Rudolph died in Switzerland. That post is incorrect. He is buried in Pleasant Grove (St Peters) Evangelical near Boonville Missouri

Hi,

My husband comes from the Rudolph Derendinger line. John Fritz Derendinger's son George Derendinger is my husband's grandfather.

Anyway, I wanted to reply because I found a passengers list here on ancestry.com that shows Rudolph arrived with his wife Louisa, 13 year old daughter Elise, and 10 year old son Fritz, in New York via La Havre, France (origin, Switzerland), on November 12, 1888.

If anyone finds out the marriage date, let me know! Thanks!

My name is Pam Kreutzer. My Great Grandparents also immigrated around 1881 and settled in Boonville, Mo. Had a farm in Prairie Home, a few miles away.
They were John Edwin and Wilhemina Derendinger. My grandfather was Juluis Cesaer Derendinger and my Father was Cecil Raymond Derendinger. We lived in the Kansas City,Mo. area and although my father always went to the family reunion in booneville every year I did not. He died in 1991

My Father was Cecil Raymond Derendinger(Also went by Dereninger-his father removed the d but never legally)
Cecil's Father was Juluis Cesaer Derendinger nicknamed J.C.
J.C.'s parents were John Edwin Derendinger and Wilhemina Derendinger born in Switzerland and Germany in 1865. Immigrated to US and Prairie Home in 1881. They had a farm there. There are a lot of my relatives still in booneville, Mo but have lost touch since my father died in 1991. It sounds like we may have shared the same grandfather. Although John was a common name. Who was your Grandfather and father?

My name is Pamela Kreutzer. My father was Cecil Raymond Dereninger. His Father took the "d" out of Derendinger. My grandfather was Julius Cesaer Derendinger and his Parents(my Great grandparents were Wilhemina(from Germany) and John Edwin Derendinger(from Switzerland).They were both born around 1865 and immigrated to US in 1981
Cecil was born in Prairie Home,Mo. Cooper county. John and Wilhemina had a farm in Prairie Home, Mo. There were a lot of relatives with the name John and Edwin I heard stories about.
I have just gotten started with my research, so I don't know how common the name derendinger was.

I have a relative named Joseph Derendinger born in Bernardswiller, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France 1867.

My grandfather moved to California in the 1950's. To my knowledge he does not have any living siblings.

Updating my message from 4 years ago, I found out later that my Stephen Dardinger Arrived in the US late April or May 1, 1858 on the William Tell from Switzerland. His name was spelled Derendinger on the ships manifest. There was also another family headed by a Jacob who arrived in the US somewhat earlier and lived in Hardin Co., OH just as my Stephen Dardinger did. Does anyone have information on the genealogy of the Derendingers in cantons Berne / Solothurn? (I have looked through the IGI listings on FamilySearch but can't seem to make a connection.)

This is let Derendinger descendents know I have data on this family that goes back to about 1678. My Derendinger family resided in Ichenheim, Offenburg, Baden, Germany. The information comes from the Ortssippenbuch or family book for the village of Ichenheim. However the information stops around 1779. If anyone thinks you have this connection, please don't hesitate to contact me. I also have a picture of the "Swan Inn" in Ichenheim that my 6th greatgrandfather owned.

I believe you may be speaking of my great-grandfather who is burried in Walnut Grove Cemetary here in Boonville, Missouri. My father is Ernest Harding Derendinger born in 1922, son of John Fritz who was born in 1877 in Bern, Switzerland. My father's brothers are named Fred (living in Boonville), Edgar (deceased), George (living in Boonville), Charles (living in Las Vegas).

John Fritz was married to Augustus (Gussi) Haxell who died when my father was young, and then later to Mary Hawell, her sister

My name is Ed Derendinger and my daugther Carrie Bourse connected you about the possibility that my grandfather could be one of the children you listed.
This is not my great-grandfather, because both of my great-grandparents migrated to the U.S. around the turn of the century and settled in Bonnville, MO. and my grandfather Johan Fritz came to the U.S. just before the first world war. My family comes from John Fritz's line. He would be my great-grandfater, making Rudolph and Louisa my great-great-grandparents. I'm not sure of the entire line because my grandfather's sibling live in Missouri and I have never met them. But here is what I know.

John Fritz had my grandfather Edgar Lee Derendinger Sr.

Edgar Lee married Elsie May Snow and had Robert, Nancy, Edgar Lee Jr. (my father, b. Aug. 5, 1950), Karen, and John.

My father had two children with Debra Gonzolez, our names are Carrie Lee(b. Jan 29, 1976) and Jaime Kristin (b. March 19, 1978).

I married Lee Boorse. Jaime remains unmarried.

There are a lot more of us, but that is my direct line.

I am looking for relatives of John Derendinger who was born in CA. His father Joseph, was born in Alcase Lorraine, and his mother, Magdalena Mohr, was born in Hollstein, Germany. Has anyone ever heard of these? There was Andrew (1889), Joseph (1879), John (1880), Lena (1884)died in 1886, and Annie (incompetent)died in 1922.

If you're still monitoring this board I was wondering what if anything you know about your John Derendinger's family? I know quite a lot about my Dardinger ancesters, but the name was spelled a lot of ways (My oldest known ancester, Stephen, has his naturalization paper dated 7 Oct 1863, made out to Stephen Darandinger. Many of the first generation family had the name spelled Dearndinger, probably from how it sounded. And there's another Stephen, probably related back in Switzerland, who had his name spelled Derendinger when he came over.

Anyway, I'd like to know where all the Derendingers came from in Europe. I think my group is from Solithurm, Switzerland.

According to my records, Rudolph Derendinger was born in Berne, Switzerland on January 14, 1841, married Louisa (March 5, 1838-June 9, 1913) and died on November 9, 1911 in Switzerland. They had the following children all born in Berne Switzerland and immigrating about 1886:

1) J. Emil b. 1864, m. Wilhelmina and d. 1934

2) Louis John b. 12/31/1865, m. Mary Ann Carroll, and d. 4/25/1945 Elgin, Illinois

3) F. Edward b. 12/21/1869, m.Magdalena, d. 6/9/1912

4) John Rudolph b. 6/11/1874, m. Anna Stauffer, d. 11/13/1961

5) Fritz b. 1877, m. Augusta Hazel, m. Mary Hazel, d. 1974

6) Alica m. Louis Heisick, d. 1974 in Germany

7) Louisa (I have no information on her)
