Celia, One last question, if I may, about Nicholas DePuy. Where was he living during July of 1778? Lower Smithfield? Wyoming Valley?
Henry Pensil was killed during the July 3, 1778 Battle of Wyoming. But his sister, Elizabeth Pensil Jacobs who was living in the Hanover district of Wyoming Valley, escaped with her children first to Ft. Allen where her husband, John Jacobs, met up with her after he was wounded.
All this is according to her Rev War Pension application. Included in the application is a statement from witness, Elisha Blackman, who testified that Elizabeth and John were at Nicholas DePew's house in Northampton County on or about the 10th of July, 1778 where John recovered from his wounds.
Thanks, Loretta Pensyl Lisowski
