Peter Denz, 52, of Manchester and formerly of Cromwell, the loving husband of Susan (Parciak) Denz, died unexpectedly Monday (December 1, 2003) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Peter was born January 19, 1951 in Putnam, beloved son of John W. and Nancy (Stone) Denz of Cromwell and had lived most of his life in Cromwell. He graduated with the Class of 1969 from Cromwell High School and had been an outstanding athlete playing on several championship teams including baseball, basketball and cross country. He then attended Eastern Connecticut State University graduating with the 1974 Class and had played baseball there as well. After graduation he married his wife of 28 years and moved to Vernon for a short time before moving to Manchester 26 years ago. Peter was a member of the Manchester Soccer Club for over 10 years and was currently serving as the club's vice president. He also coached numerous boy's and girl's soccer teams at the local and state level and was a former member of the Manchester Country Club. Peter was employed as a Service Technician with Eastern Video of Manchester for more than 15 years. Besides his beloved Susan he is survived by and was a dedicated and devoted father to his daughter Kara L-W Denz and son Jeffrey W. Denz both of Manchester. Peter was always there for his children at whatever activity they were involved with. Peter was a father figure to his boy's and girl's soccer players who will always remember him as an outstanding coach and friend. He always spent time with his son Jeff watching the Giants and Yankees and was always there as a mentor and confidant for his daughter Kara. His children will always remember their Dad as their special hero, best friend and now Guardian Angel. Other survivors include his two sisters, Susan Carta and her husband Ralph Braithwaite of West Hartford, Sandra Wade and her husband John of Durham; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Parciak and Karen Parciak both of Manchester; several nieces and nephews, his special friend and co-worker Carl Mazzotta and many close friends. In keeping with Peter's easy going personality, casual attire is requested for his funeral service and visitation. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St., Manchester. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Manchester. Calling hours will be held Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
