I recently came across a seal matrix from a medieval knight and regent to King Alexander III. This John de Dundemor was one of the earliest to use the surname. The contents in the shield vary quite a bit from the modern three garbs of wheat found on most "family crests" of related surnames. The Latin version of Dundemor was anglicized to Dinsmore, Dunsmore, and Densmore. In Scotland the name is found as listed above and Denmuir and Dunmore in addition. I am hoping this new find will spark an interest in this surname. In addition, I am trying to recruit members of this surname to test YDna and join a surname project with F.T.D.N.A. Any interested parties respond.
Thank you
