Melissa, I am so thrilled to have your information and contact. And embarassed. I think you're thinking is quite correct on this, obviously. I have checked my files and do list your James Irving Denning as James Erwin Denning, son of Robert Denning and Susan Turner who married "Mary C." and had a girl (obviously not a daughter right?) by the name of May P. Denning, b. March 1890 living in the household in the 1900 census. I am going to have to go back and see what the relationship listed was but could have been an error. Who is this May P. Denning? My error was confusing this James with the his cousin James who was close to the same age, and I can't rely on anyone else but myself for not somehow further verifying.
I have access to lots of information on Antha. I can find out what I don't have. I never took much note of it, except for her affidavit to the pension department when they denied her pension because Martin was married to someone else, the someone else being Abigail (my gg grandmother). She had to provide an affidavit that she was his wife and presented to the public as his wife, etc. etc. goes on for a few pages.
Yes you are working with two branches from the Denning/Dinning family with respect to the Barr family. I have found several people listing them as Dinning and Denning and also in records. And it appears only one branch of Barrs? I of course can provide a wealth of info on Martin V.B. Huff. I can scan the bible pages and send to you. I haven't been able to find him in the 1880 census, but they are in the 1900 Saline Co. Missouri census.
