i have been unlucky with Cotlands...their records were destroyed by fire in 1969. No luck with Mercy either. The address listed on his birth certificate is 22 Sharp St, Bellevue East, Johannesburg.

I have emailed the Museum...I await their reply.

I also have the following information for anyone out ther who could help me please..

- Mr Delport is looking for his birth mother, Catharina Susannah Petronella Delport. (This is the spelling on the birth certificate but there could be variations with any of the names.)
- Mr Delport first contacted ISS-AUS in 1994 seeking help to find his birth mother in South Africa. ISS referred the case to a correspondent in South Africa. The correspondent in South Africa was able to obtain Mr Delport’s birth certificate from Department of Home Affairs. As a small boy Mr Delport was placed in foster care and no records were kept on foster children.
- Mr Delport remembers going to collect money from the Department of Child Welfare Society, Fox St Johannesburg. He collected the money for his foster mother, Louise Scheepers who passed away when Mr Delport was 12-years-old.
- Mr Delport was then left in the care of Ms Scheepers daughter, Maud George who has also passed away.
- Mr Delport migrated to Australia in 1979 with his family.
- Mr Delport remembers being identified as a coloured and being given an identity card, with the number 33144129 C (for coloured). Mr Delport states that this number came from the “Births and Deaths” Registrar in Pretoria.
- A search for Ms Delport was conducted in South Africa but no results were found.
- A correspondent in South Africa at that time notified ISS-AUS that poll registers in South Africa were updated when a birth, marriage or death occurs.
- As stated before it is believed Ms Delport was born in Bechuanaland. Another search was conducted in Botswana where no results were found. Queries on the correct spelling for Ms Delport name were raised, to whether her name was spelt Catharina or Katharina. (Mrs Bertrand queried the spelling of all her names. Also are we sure we have the correct spelling for Scheepers.)
- A search for Ms Delport’s birth certificate in Botswana produced no results.

Kenneth Stanley Arthur John Delport was born 18 April 1946 in Oudtshoorn and married Gloria Ann Opperman born 4 August 1947 Victoria West on 24 May 1969 in Steynsburg, Cape Province. Can anyone help me with information regarding Kenneth's family.

My father's name is Clem Delport and my grandfather's name is Jack Richard Delport. Both we born and currently reside in Cape Town. My great grandfather's name was John Delport.

Halo Mr Delport! I suggest you first contact Cotlands to find out whether these records are available and whether the records will be provided to you.
You could also establish, maybe via the internet, where the records of the Queen Victoria Maternity Hospital, Jhb are kept. Most Jhb babies were born there!
Also, the Huguenot Museum, Franschhoek, has contact details on their website. As Delport is a Huguenot surname, they may be able to help you with the forefathers of the family.

Please can you help I am looking for Catharina Maria Elizabeth Delport born 21 July 1927, her Father: Marthinus Johannes Delport died 1932, I don’t know what her mother’s name was please can you help, I am looking for the mother’s name and surname and their children, Catharina Maria Elizabeth Delport was Married to Petrus Johannes van Eck she was the last child of 9.

i am looking for my grandmother who was the biological mother of my dad.he was born 29 june 1940 in bellevue east, johannesburg south africa. he was in a foster home but was told around the age of 12 that he was born in a place called "cotlands baby sanctuary" which was situated in a suburb called "south hills". on his birth certificate his mother is named as Catharina Susannah Petronella Delport.can anyone help me i have more details
