In October, 1784 James Delaney wrote his will naming his wife Elizabeth and Jacob Smelser as executors. When he died in November, he left 3 minor daughters the youngest only a few months old. Elizabeth soon remarried to a David Crawley. She sold 100 acres with only her executing the deed in 1793 ( presumably her dower portion), but in 1814 when she sold 200 acres, not only did her 3 daughters execute deeds to release that land (in 1825), but also Jacob Smelser (in 1816) then of Overton Co, TN. One of the daughters of Elizabeth, Margaret, was still unmarried in 1825 and also living in Overton Co, TN when she signed her release.I know of no connection or "reason" for Margaret Delaney to be living "alone" in Overton Co, TN. I have not been able to find a marriage record for James Delaney and Elizabeth, but wonder if perhaps she was a Smelser - a sister of Jacob and that was why he was named as coexecutor. Perhaps this is also why Margaret is in Overton Co - living with her uncle's family. James had another brother living near that was quite capable of being named executor. James and the brother had been executors .
