Pierre Defaillet/Defayette died 9 Sep 1777 at La Prairie, Notre-Dame-de-LaPrairie-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec, m. Josephte Paquet dite Larivierre abt 1760 probably at Lacadie, Ste-Marguerite-de-Blairfindie, Quebec, Canada, no confirmation on that, I have not been able to find the record, (others seem to be of the same situation). Josephte died 17 Oct 1816 Lacadie, Ste-Marguerite-de-Blairfindie, Quebec, Canada. I do have confirmation of her death. She m. a 2nd time to Dominique Samoisette 05 Oct 1778 La Prairie, Notre-Dame-de-LaPrairie-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec, Canada. I do have confirmation of that also. You may try the website: http://www.wesleyan.edu/av/Lafayette.html and see if you can glean something from that.

You may email me and I can send you some of the sources that I have.

Also looking for Pierre Lafayette dit Defitt or Defayette m Marie Josephte Paquet. My grandmother was Ruby Lafayette who married Arthur P. White dit LeBlanc. Ruby's father was James Buchanan Lafayette of Chazy, New York. I know that Pierre married Matilda Reine Lussier and I think he may have married a second time to Matilda Wells, but the confusion of names leaves mysteries.
Were you able to get the information that you were seeking on Albert?
I am looking for the marriage record of Pierre Defaillet and Josephte Paquet dite Larivierre, they probably married about 1760 in Quebec, Canada. The Albert you were seeking info on is descendant of him. They are the parents of Simon Thomas Defaillet m. Veronique Ficiau and their son Albert m Marie Mauthrine Hebert and their son Louis Albert Defaillet dit DeFayette, Jr married Sophie Parent.

In reply to your message, Ursula, the answer is yes. The name that I have out of the church records is Delia but that could be short for Cordelia. The marriage date is August 17, 1891 in Redford, NY to Edmond Bell.

Hi,
I got interested in DeFayette genealogy awhile back.
Found lots of info. But we choose not to put too much of it on the net.
I have the info you are looking for e-mail us.
Info we have is back to Albert Defayette parents
And answer your question about the witness at the wedding.
Back in the past it was extremely common for the respctive fathers to serve as the couple's witnesses at
their marriage ceremony.
So the couple fathers were the witnesses Joseph Parot( later spelled Parent)
Albert Dufiet(DeFayette)

Maybe I should give the names of some of Albert' and Sophie'
children to see if we are talking about the same couple;
The children
Sophie
Joseph Albert
Fresine
Apoline
Marie Louise
Victorie Ursule
Ursule
Delina
Louis Alfred
If interested e-mail us, we maybe of some help
Tom Bernice

Al Defayette

I am most interested in Albert Dufiet (Defayette) who married Sophie Pardie (Parot) on October 12, 1856. The original handwritten copy reads as such:
Albert Dufiet to Sophie Pardie
Wits Albert Dufiet Joseph Parot
It is possible that the witness Albert is his father but I am not sure. It could be an uncle also. Also the Defayette spelling has changed over the years.

My grandmother's name is Elaine Gonyea. This Al that you mentioned married my Aunt Blanche. I don't know what her maiden name was. Anyway, this Al is my grandfather Henry's brother and they are both (brothers) deceased. The Al that I am looking for or rather his parents married Sophie Parent on October 12, 1851 in Keeseville. He's the one that I have only witnesses listed for and not the parents. I appreciate any help you can give. Thanks for the interest.

The Al that your mother is referring to is my uncle. The Defayette's married Gonyeas. My grandmother was a Gonyea. The Albert that I am looking for is farther back. I have his marriage record but it only has witnesses listed and not his parents.
