This indenture made the 24th day of July 1792 between Richard Drew of North Carolina and County of Hertford of the one part and Benjamin DeBerry of the County of Northampton and state aforesaid. Witnesseth that I the said Richard Drew being fully satisfied and contented by agreement for 70 pounds Virginia money to me in hand paid by the said Benjamin DeBerry and I do hereby bargain sell alien enforss and confirm unto the said Benjamin DeBerry his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract of land and plantation containing 200 acres it being part of three patents fifty acres being part of a patent granted to Benjamin Joyner which bears date April 1723 old purchase patent land and the other 150 acres being part of two patents granted to Robert Smelley the one for 520 acres bearing date 1745 the other being part of a patent for 1100 acres granted to the said Smelley bearing date 1749 lying on the south side of Kirbys Creek and bounded as followeth to wit: Beginning at a branch called the Roanoke Branch at the side of the said creek and running up the said branch to the fork thence along a line of marked trees to a oak thence along a line to Henry DeBerrys line thence along a line of new marked trees to a corner pine thence along his line yet marked oak thence along to a pine in John Smelleys line formerly then down said line to the school house branch thence down the said branch to the said Kirbys Creek again then up the said Creek to the begining'. Witnessed by Henry Sowersby, Absalom Cobb, John Benjamin. Signed 07/14/1792. Registered 10/10/1792
