I found a website with background info on Guillaume D'Aoust, who came to Canada from France in the 1600's. Most folks whose surnames are variations of this, are descendants of his. A book has recently been published - over 1300 pages long - that documents this lineage. Please see this site -
http://members.nbci.com/daoust/daoust1.htm where you can contact Bob D'Aoust (he's in Ontario) by e-mail and see if you or your ancestors are in the family tree. Please try to give him names AND dates. My ancestors ended up spelling the name as Deau, and they lived in northern Wisconsin - Peshtigo. Also - please see the Daoust surname board. They are part of "our" family!
