Hello. I am a descendant of his also. I understand that his father was Francisco de la Cerda who was from Toledo, Spain. I will be visiting Toledo, Spain in Sept. 2014 and would like to know if anyone has records from Toledo about his father and their family. I would like to know so that I could no more or where to look for family records when I am there.

My parents would have met in Olton, TX. in 1965
I was born June 26, 1966
My mother Rosalinda Contreras was born 8/4/1947
These are the only clues I have
Ralph Delacerda (first and last name could be spelt differently)
He would be 63-67 years old (also not too sure)

I am also a descendant of James Santiago de la Cerda. His son Mitchel had a son Benjamin, who was my grandfather. The de la Cerda reunion used to be held each Memorial Day weekend in Gorum, LA. I haven't been able to attend in years.

I'm pretty sure we are related. I believe Ventura was a cousin of my grandfather Alonso de la Cerda. He lived in the Eagle Pass/Piedras Negras area. There are a lot of De la Cerda's in the area still.

Hello I'm trying to find information on my mother's family. Her mother is Senida De la Cerda (spouse Jose Odon Garcia 1906-1999). Senida's parents were Segundo Garcia( 1879-1972) and Senovia Gonzales (1880-1976). Segundo's parents were German De la Cerda (1852-1934) and Crespina Peres (1861-Unk). German's parents were Vicento De la Cerda (1830-unk) and Maria Apolinaria Martines. Maria Apolinaria's last name may have been Mendes also. Past Vicento De la Cerda, I do not have any information. Anything at all would be helpful.

My name is Gunnar Cerda. My Grandfather is Arthur L. Cerda, born in Brockton, Mass. (US) around 1905-1910, of Mexican Cerda descent. I am attempting to trace Latin or MesoAmerican lineage of this family name, as I am in Ministry and plan to move toward Ministry to the Hispanic Community. I recently spent 2 weeks in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico and fell in love with the culture, which has prompted my interest in my ancestry and ministry to the Hispanic culture.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Well, the same stpory I heard from my ancestors.
Some Portuguese and Spaniards books report divert version of appearance of Lacerda surname.
My grand father came from Famalicao, Portugal to Brazil around 1890.
His name: Pedro Alexandrino Lacerda
Do u know something else?
Lacerda and la Cerda are variations of same name, which appeared in Spain and were sent to Portugal for a power fight related to Portugal kingdom.

I have been reading this line and extremely intriqued. Let me explain why. I am tracking a line, also believed to have come from the conquistadors from Spain. They came out of Machoacan, Mexico where the conquistadors were known to have been. The line I am tracking is Don Juan Magana Navarrete who married Juana Nepomuceno de la Cerda. I have no exact dates, but I am looking at the mid to late 1700s. Does this name tie into anything? I know the Navarrete family is also supposed to be Conquistadors as well.

Funeral services for Salvador De La Cerda will be held
Tuesday Jan. 14, 10:30 a.m. at San Fernando Mission Rey
cemetery. A reception will follow at the American Legion
Hall in San Fernando.

Salvador was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, great-
grandfather, godfather, Tio, el amigo and compadre.

Born Aug. 23, 1918 near Keeler, Sal died on Jan. 5, 2003 at
his daughter, Rosemarie and her husband, David's, home,
where he had resided during the last years of his long life.

Sal enjoyed a good story as well as sharing a good story,
and he gave nicknames for people that have lasted three
generations. He was a great athlete and fisherman. His
athletic record at Lone Pine High School still remains.

He is survived by his daughter Rosemarie; son, Sal;
son-in-law, David; three sisters, Vera, Annie and Connie;
four brothers, Adolph, Savino, Ralph and Vincent; eight
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother John, his sister
Margaret, his daughter Delia, his grandson Daniel, and his
wives Angelina and Annie.

Viewing will be held on Monday, Jan. 13, from 5-9 p.m. with
a Rosary at 7 p.m., at Utter McKinley Mortuary in San
Fernando.

Atanacio married Maria Symes first, she was the daughter of an Richard Symes of Bristol, England and Maria Perez who was Spainish. Atanacio later married Nancy Shellet, they had one child together named Susan.

This is the first time that I looked into the de la Cerda message board. I saw your message posted on the de la Carda board and I have some wonderful news to pass on to all de la Cerda's.

The name de la Cerda originated in Spain, with Fernando de la Carda born 23 Oct 1255, died Nov. 1275. Fernando was the son of Alfonso X King of Castile & leon. 1221 - 1284, married to Violante Queen of Aragón.

Fernando de la Cerda, was married to Princess Blanche of France, daughter to Louis IX King of France 1214 - 1270, and sister to Phillip III King of France.

Their son Alfonso de la Cerda inherited the throne from his grandfather Alfonso X, and became King of Castile & Leon. Alfonso de la Cerda, married Maria de Molina. Since I descend from the same lines we are distant cousins.

So now you know, the de la Cerda surname was created by Fernando de la Cerda. All de la Cerda's are descendants of Fernando.
