Is this test offer still going on? My paternal grandmother is a DeCourcey from Kinsale, Cork, Ireland. I would like to have my brother participate - I have been trying to find DeCourseys for quite some time!

Just been going thro'old messages aboutPATRICK DECOURCEY and found you have an interest, could you please give me any info you have.What I do know is that he was born in Co Galway 1858 he was married to Bridget Burke when he died in 1898.

Coursey / DeCoursey surname Y-DNA Project

There is a newly started Y-DNA Project for the Coursey/DeCoursey surnames. It is open to all males with any variation of the two surnames as well as those who believe that they are descended from a Coursey or DeCoursey. (Females can participate by sponsoring the testing of a male relative.)

The main goals of the project are to learn more about the origins and history of the surnames, identify different family lines and help researchers make connections (and hopefully break through a few brick walls!).

Examples of surname variations: Coursey, Corsey, Courcey, Courcy, Course, Corse, DeCoursey, de Courcey, de Courcy, DeCorsey, DeCourcey, DeCourcy, DeCourse

Where in the United States have you been able to track this Patrick DeCourcy? I first found mine when he married in Columbus, Ohio. Family then moved to central Illinois - Decatur. Several male children were railroaders in Texas in late 1800s. Any connection?

DeCourcy (plus other spellings) in Northern Ireland

Yeah; no longer looking in the whole of Ireland for my DeCourcy ancestors as I've found a US Census record where he is listed as born in Northern Ireland.

Now, anyone else looking in Northern Ireland? I could sure use help as this is a brickwall!

He was Patrick DeCourcy (DeCourcey, Decoursey), born somewhere in N Ireland about 1830. Married Catherine Fitzgerald in Columbus, OH in 1854, then the two of them moved to Central Illinois and lived there for the rest of their lives.

I have no information about parents or siblings of either of these parties.

NELLIE TUBERTY DECOURCY, widow of John J DECOURCY. She and three children, below, moved to Los Angeles by 1910.

WALLIS/WALLACE DECOURCY, son of John and Nellie (TUBERTY) DECOURCY, born 1893 in Texas, probably in San Antonio. Father was born in Illinois; possibly Mother also. Would have been Roman Catholic. Father died in 1907, in Texas. Mother and children moved to Los Angeles by 1910.

ALINE H DECOURCY, b 1896 in Texas, probably in San Antonio. She married a DOWER. Father was born in Illinois; possibly Mother also. Would have been Roman Catholic. Father died in 1907, probably in Texas. Mother and children moved to Los Angeles by 1910.

De Courcey/Atkins Family

My name is Ardenia Atkins. I am looking for anyone who has any infromation and a Mildred De Courcey. She married a guy names John Atkins. They had four kids together. The kids names are Edmond, Huburt, Rollin and Arnold. They lived in Lincoln, Vermont. John Atkins and Mildred De Courcey are buried in the Lincoln Cementery. My research on the DeCourcy family only goes back to Andrew Courcy. He was the father of my gr-gr-grandfather, Patrick (De)Courcy b. about 1849. Patrick m.Mary Chambers, dau. of John Chambers in 1873 in Ballinhassig, Co. Cork. They moved to Bandon where they had 9 children, James,Alice,Catherine Mary,John,Mary,Patrick,Daniel,Stephen,and Margaret.
I do know that many in this family while they lived in Bandon,Co.Cork, either worked for the railroad or the postal service
