de burgh of staffordshire: new resource.

Classification: Biography
Surnames: de Burgo, de Burgh, de Limesey, de Limesi, fitz Bishop, de Plardiwick, Harcourt, Fitz Noel
I believe the Ancestry record that attempts to connect the de Burghs of Ulster as ancestral to the de Burghs of Staffordshire is wrong. Here is an internet site with a document citing court records and early documents and working out the lineage of the de Borgos (once Limesey, from Robert Bishop of Chester, and his sister, m. one Wm. Noel). The lines merge, and get confusing with quite a few Bertrams, but the dates and marriages are buried in documents of the time, which are amply cited here: http://www.broughfamily.org/history/Early_Broughs_of_Staffor...

I have worked the information out in my tree: the de Burghs of Warwickshire and Staffordshire are connected; there are more de Burgo wives than appear in Ancestry records, Philip fitz Bishop, Fitz Noel, Ralph and Robert de Limesey, and Wm Conqueror's sister all figure in this account including actual historic record, and careful reading of the records will turn up the actual names (Alice and Joan) of two de Burgo daughter otherwise recorded as FNU, one married to a Harcourt. There is considerable detail of children not elsewhere recorded in Ancestry. Bertram III de Burgo is listed in Ancestry, but with suspect dates.
