My DeAlba line is from Monterey also. Dr. Manuel Alba died there in 1840 but he was born in Mexico. He was with the Mexican Army there in Monterey. He had only 2 surviving children- Jose Manuel b. 1836 and Maria Concepcion Manuela Alba who married John Stanuseich in 1861. Jose on the other hand had 9 children - Edward b. 1879, John b. 1880, Manuel b. 1882, Anita b. 1883, Mary Isabel Lene b. 1885, Jose Mighel DeAlba(my grandfather) b. 1888, Maria Guadalupe (lupe)b.1890, Cleveland b.1892, Julia Nicolasa b. 1985. I have the Dr's will and it talks about his lands in Mex and in Calif (still Mexico). There are tons of DeAlbas in New Mex, Tex, Mexico and Spain but not so many in Calif. By the way this Dr's picture hangs in the capitol bldg in Sacramento. If this is you family I have more. Arnell
