Looking for contact with anyone who knows anything
about a James S. Day who served for a time as
a seaman aboard the ship CONTINENT (between 1859 1861)
out of New Bedford, MA - ship was owned by the Tapscott
Line - W. Tapscott Co. of New Bedford. Ship's captain
John L. Gibbs was also from New Bedford.

James S. Day was in New York in April 1859, in
Melbourne Australia in August 1859, in Melbourne again
in July 1861, in Liverpool, England in March 1860,
and in Dublin, Ireland in March 1860.

When he was in Australia in 1859 he is listed as 13 yrs,
and as 15 yrs at the 1861 visit.

I have found another James S. Day listed as a merchant
seaman, from Attleboro, MA marrying in 1847 at
Attleboro, MA - could this be his father I wonder??

Any information greatly appreciated.
