I begin my Dawson lineage (for sure) at
Martin Dawson, believed to be married twice. a Miss Gains, a Miss Carter--don't know who was 1st. He left a will dated Sept. 1, 1808, probated Mar. 16, 1812 (Will Book 5, p. 94, Amherst Co. VA.) He had Martin Dawson who married 1st Priscilla Sorrell; 2nd Elizabeth Carter. The Martin who married Priscilla was a Baptist Minister. Martin and Priscilla had Martin T. Dawson who married Milley Cox, daughter of Valentine Cox and Nancy Dawson Cox. Martin T. and Milley moved to Gallia Co. OH before the 1830 census. They had James C. Dawson who married 1st Caroline Page and 2nd Lydia Thronton Baker. James C. and Lydia had Rebecca Jane Dawson (my grandmother) who married John H. S. Dillon. John and Jane had John Lawrence Dillon who married E. Nellie Malone. Lawrence and Nellie had me, Helen Dillon who married Ralph B. Riley. I would be glad to share information with you. I have Vo. II "Dawsons in Rev. War and Their Descendants" by Carol Dawson; "Dawson Family Records" by Charles C. Dawson; "Albemarle Co. in VA" by Rev. Edgar Woods. I have been wondering if I should order Carol's Vol. I. Do you think it would be helpful? I am not familiar with Mary Roy Dawson Edwards book. What does she have in her book that would be helpful? I don't quite follow your line as yet. I see you were from Martin and Priscilla's son John. How did you get the Henry of England and his son John who emigrated 1630's to VA.
