Celia David, daughter of Isaac David - b. 1781 - VA>GA>OH>IN

I'm wondering if anyone out there has more conclusive info on Celia/Seleigh David who was the daughter of Isaac David & Mildred White - of Virginia and Georgia (per research of David H. Robertson). According to this research, she (Celia David) was born in Virginia between 1777 and 1787 and married a Baldwin (first name unknown - possibly Edward).

I have a Seleigh Baldwin (maiden name unknown) in my family history who married an Edward Baldwin about 1796 (in Georgia?). This Seleigh was born 22 May 1781 (Virginia or Georgia?) and died 18 May 1863 in Pleasant Twp., Grant Co., Indiana.

Seleigh & Edward Baldwin had the following children (per research of Joyce E. Bond):

1. David Baldwin (b. 1797 in Georgia - died in 1887 in Kansas) - married Catharine Studabaker on 24 Feb. 1820 in Darke Co., Ohio.

2. Edward Baldwin (b. 1801 in Georgia) - married Susannah Harter 22 April 1824 in Darke Co., Ohio.

3. Thomas Baldwin (b. abt. 1802 in Georgia)

4. Elizabeth Baldwin (b. 1804 in Ohio - d. after 1870) - married Robert Cain on 5 Aug. 1823 in Darke Co., OH.

5. William Baldwin (b. 18 Dec. 1809 in Preble Co., Ohio - d. 9 Dec. 1873 in Garnett, Kansas) - married Mary Ann McKinzie on 8 Feb. 1833 in Darke Co., OH.

6. Seleigh Baldwin (b. 30 May 1813 in Ohio - d. 17 June 1889 in Grant Co., OH) - married Solomon Harter on 21 Dec. 1829, Darke Co., OH.

7. Pelina Baldwin (b. 13 Nov. 1815 in Preble Co., Ohio - d. April 1904 in Elkton, Oregon) - married Charles Willet Masterson Smith on 8 Nov. 1832 in Darke Co., OH.

8. Isaac Baldwin (?) (b. 1818 ?) - married to Rachael (? surname).

Seleigh Baldwin (69 years old) is living with an Isaac Baldwin and his family, in the 1850 Census of Grant Co., Indiana.

Would like to confirm that these 2 Celia/Seleighs are the same person.

David Family...Please Help

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with my research. My ancestor Julien David who lived in Normandy France had descendents who came to Canada with the last name David-sit-Pontife. I was told that the family was French Notaries and that way back they are related to Makhir ben Jonah (from the house of David) who changed his name to Theodore Duke of Septemania. My questions are:

Where did the dit Pontife come from and what does it mean?
What exactly did they do for the French government and where can I find any info on that?
And, who of the descendants of Makhir moved to Normandy and may connect to Julien de St. Etienne David.

If anyone has any info, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks
Jason
humbuckj@aol.com
Hungarian David family from NY

Hi there!
I'm searching for information about my great grandfather,Frank C. David, born c.1870 in what was then called Eperjes, Saros, Hungary, arrived in New York 26 October, 1889 aboard the SS Rugia out of Hamburg. Married Anna Szedelenyi sometime in the mid 1890's.. Had 6 children, August S. David (my grandfather) b.1900,d.1932; Tillie, b.1904; Julius,b.1905, d.1968; Gazilla,b.1910; Peter,b.1912; and William,b1915.
Frank C. David was an undertaker who, in 1932, had his buisness in the Free Magyar Reformed Church at 418 E. 84th st, Nyc. the 1930 census had his address as 318 E. 54th st, NYC,as does the 1920 census. I can't seem to find him at all in the 1910 census, and the 1900 census has him living on Pitt st. Somehow, back in the 1930's or 40's, after my grandfather was shot to death, there was some sort of falling out between my father and his family on his father's side. Most of the information I have was obtained by sitting my father down and getting him drunk enough to talk.
My father is long gone now, so the rest of the information I have has been gleened through public records and old family photos. any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian David

I have traced my DAVID roots back to a John
DAVID (b. 26Jul1791 d. 27Jun1880) and Rachel
Baumgardner (b. 13Jun1808 d. 14Aug1885).
They lived near Calvin, Huntingdon Co., PA
for most, if not all of their lives.
Unfortunately, I am having a difficult time
taking this family back another generation.
Is there anyone else out there that might be
researching this family or have any information
they'd like to share? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Robert David is my brick wall. He married Jenny Herring in 1889 in Kansas, (she died in Beaver City, OK giving birth to their last child Eileen). They had 4 kids; Ralph Emerson my GP was the oldest, then either Guy or Emmet was next, then the baby girl Eileen.
Robert David split up the kids giving Ralph and Eileen to some family members and Guy and Emmet to others. Ralph was born in Belpre, Kansas. The last information I can find on Robert was when Ralph entered the service and said his father lived in Wichita, Kansas. I know the kids could have gone with David or Herring family members....I don't know. My Mom remembers Emmet and Guy living in California in the 50's in Riverside...I've also found Herrings there. I have some Herring family line information but they don't remember any David's being raised by anyone.
Thanks for listening...Marcia

I am researching the WILLIAM DAVID-LYDIA FINNEY family of Cayuga Co. New York. One of their children was ORSON ARTEMUS DAVID and one of his children was FLORENCE DAVID who married LORENZO SPOONER. Does anyone know the ancestors of WILLIAM DAVID or LYDIA FINNEY? They moved from Essex Co. NY to Cayuga Co. about 1818. LYDIA may be the daughter of JOEL FINNEY and ANNA SACKETT FINNEY of CT. She lists a birthplace of CT in the 1850 census and several sons of JOEL and ANNA FINNEY, ANSON, HEMAN and JOEL are settlers of Elizabethtown, Essex, Co. NY. I am looking for JOEL DAVID who may have been a brother of ORSON ARTEMUS and remained in Aurelius, Cayuga Co. NY.

His father was Henry David of Cwmdu, Coedfrank (Coedffranc) a master joiner/iron founder who was married to Emily Moule of Cefn Farm, Coedfranc. I am especially interested in any descendants of Margaret David, daughter of Ogley and Mary David. All I know about her is that she married a David Jones and had a son of her own called Ogley David Lewis Jones who became an architect/builder in Swansea in the 1950/1960s. Thank You.

trying to trace David roots

Hi, my name is David Stockton. My first name is actually a surname as I was named for Cora David, my great-grandmother. Her family was from Iowa and before that Pennsylvania or Delaware. The oldest ancestor I have been able to trace is named Marshall Wallering David. He was born in Pennsylvania or possibly Delaware in 1824. His father was named David David (not a typo, his first and last name are the same.) Anyway I am trying to trace my lineage back at least to the Revolution if I can. Any and all replies are appreciated.

Hi,

My great-grandmother Anna Davidova was born in Tabor, Bohemia (Czech Republic) on July 26, 1884. She married Josef Korinek on April 29, 1901 in Chicago. She died in Chicago on March 18, 1950 where she is buried in the Bohemian National Cemetery. I believe she is buried with Frantiska (Frances) David Kazimour (perhaps her sister), who died before May 4, 1945.

I am trying to find Anna's parents and any other family members. Any help would be appreciated!

Jacob David of Minnesota

I have recently learned that my great-great-great grandmother, Catherine Jindra (widow of Vaclav Jindra) married a Jacob David of Bohemia. He was born approximately in 1839. Not only did Catherine have 8 children of her own, Jacob had two as well. I'm guessing his first wife died between 1883 and 1885 and then he remarried.

They were living in New Prague, Le Sueur County, MN in the 1885 Census. Jacob may have died in 1917, I am not sure yet. Is anyone familiar with this family? Any help woud greatly be appreciated! Thank you!

His mother remarried in LA my ancestor Jacque Ignace DeRossier. They had one son, Francois, b. in 1778. Jacque died a year later. Marie Louise Ritter/Ryder eventually married again--to Jacob Bihm, and together they raised several children as well as Francois and Jean Baptiste around Bayou Mallet, about five miles east of Eunice, LA. Any information on this family would be appreciated.

DAVID, ALBERT LEROY; Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient WW II

Source: http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/moh1.htm

Note: This is not my ancestry. I have NO additional information. I am just passing along information that may be useful.

DAVID, ALBERT LEROY

Rank and organization: Lieutenant, Junior Grade, U.S. Navy. Born: 18 July 1902, Maryville, Mo. Accredited to: Missouri. Other Navy award: Navy Cross with gold star. Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while attached to the U.S.S. Pillsbury during the capture of an enemy German submarine off French West Africa, 4 June 1944. Taking a vigorous part in the skillfully coordinated attack on the German U-505 which climaxed a prolonged search by the Task Group, Lt. (then Lt. j.g.) David boldly led a party from the Pillsbury in boarding the hostile submarine as it circled erratically at 5 or 6 knots on the surface. Fully aware that the U-boat might momentarily sink or be blown up by exploding demolition and scuttling charges, he braved the added danger of enemy gunfire to plunge through the conning tower hatch and, with his small party, exerted every effort to keep the ship afloat and to ass1st the succeeding and more fully equipped salvage parties in making the U-505 seaworthy for the long tow across the Atlantic to a U.S. port. By his valiant service during the first successful boarding and capture of an enemy man-o-war on the high seas by the U.S. Navy since 1815, Lt. David contributed materially to the effectiveness of our Battle of the Atlantic and upheld the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service.

**Awarded Posthumously.

Burial: San Diego, CA in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery

1902 in Maryville, MO - 1945

Additional Information and cemetery monument photo:
http://www.homeofheroes.com/gravesites/states/pages_af/david...

William David, b. 1864, Nodaway County, MO

I am looking for information on William David, born in 1864 in Nodaway County, MO. His parents were Daniel Webster and Rachel S. (Smith) David. In the 1870 Census he was 6 years old, living with his parents in Union Township, Maryville, Nodaway County, MO. By 1880, when William was about 15, he was living with his parents in Wingville, Grant County, WI. After this William’s trail grows cloudy.

In 1882, there is a William L. David who married Eliza J. Campbell back in Nodaway County, MO. We are not sure this is our William. In 1900, this William and Eliza are living in Jackson Twp, Nodaway County, MO. By 1910, they are living in Cooper Twp, Gentry County, MO. They are also living there in 1920. In 1930 I do not find this family.

Does anyone have any information on William and Eliza David, or my William David, if he is different from them? Thank you for any help you may be able to give me.

Frank A. DAVID Biography, Grant Co., WI

From "History of Grant County, Wisconsin", 1881, p. 963.

TOWN OF MUSCODA

FRANK A. DAVID, of the firm of David & Woodward, druggists, Muscoda; was born in Iowa Co. in 1855; is a son of Isaac David and Cecelia Rouark, who were among the early settlers of Iowa Co. He learned the trade of druggist, and was educated at Platteville; established his present business in 1874; was appointed Pastmaster in 1876, just at the age of 21 years, and he has held the office acceptably to the public ever since. In 1875, he was married to Miss Ella Jameson, of Rock Co., by whom he has one daughter. Mr. David is a stanch Republican, enterprising, and a first-class business man. The firm carry a large stock of drugs, groceries, and, in fact, everything that is called for, making a specialty of wall paper, etc.

[I am not related to this family. I'm posting this as a service and hope it helps!]

Richard David from TN/KY and Edward Ned David

Alan, Mark, Eddy, Debra O, et al….

Okay, I think I’m on to something… I think I have figured out Edward Ned David… let me know what you think..

Alan Said… “I have exhaustively searched the records of DAVID families in East TN in the late 1700's and very early 1800's and can find no other DAVID from whom your Ned could be descended, with the possible exception of Richard DAVID who also owned land in Sullivan County TN on Horse Creek from, I think, 1798 to 1806. But, I can find nothing what-so-ever than would link Richard DAVID to your Ned DAVID. Sure wish I could link him (Richard) to somebody prior to 1800!”

And Eddy said… “one thing I have discovered is that I keep finding connections to a Richard David in Hardin Co., KY(1810-1830) who is connected to the older Edward David in East Tennessee and the Davids in Indiana.

Well, I think it is the same Richard. I think that approx 1806 Richard moved his family to Hardin Co, KY

Eddy said he thought the sons (Richard’s) enumerated in 1810 were Jeremiah, Lewis, Thomas and maybe Edward, but I think the ages match up to Abraham, Edward Ned, and Catherine. Abraham and Edward Ned are shown living close to Richard in the 1820 Hardin Co Census, and Edward Ned and Catherine both got married to a “Wittington” on 11 Nov 1819 in Harrison Co, IN (right across the river from Hardin Co.

If Edward Ned is Richard’s son, he was born in TN in 1894 (based on age in 1850 Brown Co census)
before Richard moved to Hardin Co.

So, how about some opinions on my hypothosis….

Jerry
My great great grandfather James M. David was born in Ohio in 1820. In the 1880 census his father is listed as being from New Jersey and his mother from Ireland.
James married Rachael Kidd in Lawrence Co., IL Dec. 10, 1840 and they moved to Richland County, Wisconsin later to Grant County, Wisconsin.
Children included Elias, Selina, Marquis, James C. and Oliver Perry (my great grandfather).
Oliver married Margaret Wiley in Spencer, Iowa Jan. 9, 1881. They moved to Belvedere, NE then Crete where my grandfather, John Wiley David was born.
John Wiley David married Veronica McNiff. My father, Thomas Oliver David was born to them in Utica, NE on April 15, 1930.
I am looking for any relatives to this line - esp. hoping to find info. on James David's parents, siblings, or children.
Email: dsorensen@kearney.net Thanks!
David, W. R. in 1929 Richmond, VA yearbook

RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA)

David, W. R.

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes).

I extracted all of the names (& some other information) from the yearbook & have put them on my genealogy web site (total of 13 web pages, containing over 1,900 records; sorted alphabetically by surname).

The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site, not just data about the families I am researching. I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...
