My name is Susanne Lynn Darling-Gudgel. My father, Willard Harvey Darling, divorced my mother in 1970 and was never to be heard from. I do know that he played for many years in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and may very well still be playing (he is now 73 years old. I have tried desperately to contact him, only all I get are hang up phone calls. It seems as if this is his style. If he divorces his wife, he also divorces his family and pretends they don't exist. I came to this conclusion after my mother told me that she was his second wife. It appears he was married before and had one son, Larry or Lawrence Darling. His first wife's maiden name was Whitmarsh. She died, I believe, a few years after they divorced. Larry's grandparents, I am told, changed his name to Whitmarsh because our father, Willard Darling, wanted nothing to do with him. This my mother told me as she had tried many times to get him to contact his son, but he would only become enraged and she would be forced to drop the subject. My whole reason for this message is that I would love to meet Larry and his family as we are half brother and sister. I also have a brother and two sisters who would love to meet him to.
