My grandmother had a brother, Thomas Dargan, born in 1868 near Cashel in Co. Tipperary. We never knew what became of him but he is not listed as having emigrated, as did the rest of the family. His parents were Catherine Quillinan and Michael Dargan. Maybe there is a connection. They lived in Greenane. Catherine was from Raheen, not far from Greenane.

Dargans of Dualla, County Tipperary

For Beatrice Echols,
I regret I have little more information on the Dargans of Tipperary, except that my great-grandmother died at Cahir in 1881 and my grandfather James left Ireland for Australia in 1883. He lived at the Ferry Bank at Waterford at that time. his siblings were John Joseph, Laura, William, Mary Ann and Alice and they left for Australia before he did.
I know that William Dargan is credited with designing (or founding?) the Irish railways but do not know if he is an ancestor. There is a larger than life statue of him in Dublin.
To: P.Dargan
I have the childrens names, tho I think I had written that my grandfather married my
grandmother in 1899. I believe you had contacted Mariene Benoit Dargan, who is my
cousin. Has she given you a reply, she knows
more about it than I.

For Terrence Dargan, of Australia, I would
like to exchange information about the Dargans from Tipperary. My grandfather was
Thomas Dargan, married Johanna McNamara in about 1899, had 13 or so children, one my mother Bridget who came to the US in about 1920. Please let me know if would like to exchange information.

DARIGAN/DARGAN of Tipperary?

Looking for a Darigan/Dargan family, possibly from Tipperary. Known relative is a Patrick Darigan, born 1858. Parents were Philip and Bridget. Came to the US in 1874. Settled in Rhode Island around 1882. Married Maria Keegan from Co. Leitrim. Had 9 children, oldest being John Andrew Darigan. Name may have changed from Dargan, Dorgan etc. Spelled it Darigan as early as 1882. Any info would be appreciated. E-mail to jmc6170@yahoo.com
