I am researching my husband's tree. I have questions regarding Isham Daniel, Sr. Isham's father was James Daniel born abt 1760 Yorkshire England, and died 1801 Tazewell County, Virginia.

Other siblings to Isham Daniel, Sr are Thomas Daniel and George Washington Daniel, Sr.

Isham Daniel married a Mary Polly Borders. I thought that this was the only marriage, until I came across a book "Fried Potatoes, Mustard Greens, Fat Back, Soup Beans, and Cornbread. . .Retracing the Vanishing Footprints of our Appalachian Ancestors" by Louis E. Adams.

In his book he claims that Mary Polly Borders was Isham's first wife. Children born of that marriage are

Second wife to Isham was Clara Adkins. Children born of that marriage are:

Wyatt A Daniel

Searching census records for Clara Adkins, I find no reference to her. Plus in this book, the author has death years the same (1898) for both wives, plus if you add up the years that would make each of these women over 100 when they died.

If anyone has any information that could prove or refute that Isham was married twice I would really appreciate you sharing.
