I am looking for my Mexican roots. I just spoke with my grandmother and asked alot of questions. This is what she told me:
Names: DANIEL, VALENZUELA, PINO, LEON, CORNEJO, and ORTIZ
Locations: Yuma, Tucson, Gila Bend, Mesa, Phoenix, Ajo - AZ
Caborca, Altar, Guaymas -Sonora, MX
This DANIEL branch came out of Caborca Sonora Mexico, District of Alter, Sonora MX … close to Ajo & Yuma AZ. Ajo is a mining town. There was a Gabriella DANIEL with light skin and blue eyes. She had a daughter that married a GOING (need soundex on GOING).
1910 Fernando DANIEL born in Tucson to Antonio DANIEL and Matilde VALENZUELA. He was their 1st born. Younger siblings were Antonio, Armida, and Juan. Antonio DANIEL died around 1919, 1920, 1921.
1912 or 1913 Maria (Mary) Madelena ORTIZ LEON (or LEON ORTIZ) was born in Guaymas Sonora MX to Maria Cecilia ORTIZ and Luis LEON. Siblings were Manuel and Vicente. Manuel died as a baby. Luis LEON was a policeman and was murdered. The widow remarried Mike MASON. MASON adopted Mary - now Mary MASON. Not sure if he adopted Vicente, but Mike was the only father Mary knew. MASON was from the north. He had a sister named Kathleen that married a Jones (or Johnson) - Mike helped fund sister & her husband in a sausage business.
~1920’s Matilde VALENZUELA and children moved to San Bernandino CA and ran a boarding house. At 15 yrs old, Fernando got a job as waterboy on the railroad and went to work in Oregon.
~1925 Mary MASON and brother Vicente LEON (or MASON) left CA to AZ with grandmother Refugio CORNEJO ORTIZ - shortly after Maria Cecilia ORTIZ LEON MASON died at the age of about 31 years old in Mesa AZ in 1925. Vicente got a job with the Railroad working on the “Phoenix to Yuma†AZ track. There he worked with Fernando DANIEL. Mary and Fernando married. Fernando worked for the railroad until shortly before his death.
~1926, 1927, Matilda VALENZUELA DANIEL died in Yuma AZ. As a widow, and shortly before she died, she lived with her mother, Rosa PINO VALENZUELA, and sisters Carlotta and Suzanna. Matilde also had a sister named Conception who married Fernando DANIEL’s brother Juan. Conception’s and Juan’s branch lives mostly in Bakersfield CA now. Rosa PINO was from Caborca Sonora MX or Yuma AZ. Rosa also had some boys - some of which changed their name from VALENZUELA to PINO.
Dec.30 or 31, 1931, Fernando DANIEL went into the hospital in Tucson and died there. Children from MASON & DANIEL marriage: Raymond, Virginia, and Francisco. Baby Francisco (b. 10/4/31) was only 2 months old when his father Fernando died.
- Carlotta VALENZUELA married AMADOR. They had: Francisco and Carmen. Carlotta in Tucson.
- Suzanna VALENZUELA married VASQUEZ in Yuma. They had: Dalia, Rosa, Margarita, and Asusena. In Tucson?
