Noble Dane lived with his wife Elizabeth near the village of Bellanaleck in Co. Fermanagh. He was a veteran of both world wars. he lived at first on Cleenish Island in Upper Lough Erne, not far from Bellanaleck in a house with a farm designated for ex-soldiers before moving off the island to a nearby holding on the mainland in the townland of Ardtonagh . . He was quite a character - known for his prowess at walking on his hands! He had two sons(at least), one called Noble and the other George. George lived near Bellanaleck and had a daughter Susan who still lives locally.
I am secretary of Bellanaleck Local History Group who are at present carrying out research into the ex-servicemen who obtained houses on Cleenish Island. So we too would be very interested in any information you can exchange with us. A memorial plaque to those from the parish who served in the world wars hangs in Cleenish Parish Church and was paid for by Elizabeth Dane, Noble's widow. .
